Defense had a very hard time stopping the counter until we started

getting penetration and disrupting the play late in the second half.

ND would pull the guard and tackle from one side to the opposite side and it was a relatively slow developing play, but their HB was very good at having patience and letting the pulling linemen get in front of him. Many times it appeared they had a busted play then he would pop out of the pile and bust a big run, because of his ability to play off the pulling blocks.

The best way to stop that play is for the playside DT or DE to get upfield and disrupt the pulling lanes. Notably XT seemed to do this several times in the 4th quarter and it's not going to go on the stat sheet but that was extremely important.

ND's O line and RBs are very very good. They got some big runs early, and to be honest, am very glad they kind of went away from it and tried passing b/c I thought we were going to be in for a very long night.

Wes made adjustments, the boys pulled up their big boy pants and the defense had a wonderful night with some very key starters being out.

Also loved how we started Parker, TD, RO, and PWoo.... XT came in off the bench and got better as the night went along.

At the beginning of the game, ND had success running to their right, but after a few plays, we fixed it. Then, ND started working on the left side and we eventually fixed that as well.

We did have a few mistakes, but all-in-all it was a good day for both the O & D. No penalties and winning the TO margin was huge!

Deep penetration is always the goal.***

You can over-penetrate.... gap awareness is key. You can't wander around looking for different gaps.

We used to do that in little league as soon as we had our guys running our 2 base sets with our 2 plays in each of them. We’d pull and tell our back “its just like watching a video game” wait until you see it and then go right in behind them
