Agree with the analysis. I would have added more comment about the offensive line - but overall good stuff. This will be Syracuse's first tough conference road game after fattening up on carrier dome home wins. I think that the Tigers will come in hot for a sold out homecoming crowd and expose the Orange.

Really seems also our running game is quite vanilla therefore conservative. What is Streeter waiting for

Think of those quick passes to RBs in the flats as toss sweeps. They also put Antonio Williams in motion a good bit. Those are all extensions of the running game. A lot more eye candy and more creativity than last season.

What they fail to mention is that in the two 3 and outs after our last field goal, one featured 2 pass plays. The next drive was 10 plays, forced FSU to use all 3 timeouts, and took 5:30 off the clock. It only stalled when DJ was sacked on the only pass play of the drive. The only truly conservative drive was that one, and I would hardly call it unsuccessful.

I've said it before, and I will say it again bc it is a fact, if someone, some coach, or an X Clemson QB could teach DJ to look over the field where his receivers are suppose to be, he could be a top 3-4 QB in the country. All of us at one time or another especially if we re-watch the game have seen receivers running free that could have been for long yardage or a TD if DJ would just look over his options, and not using every second staring down the intended receiver for every particular play call.

IMHO, if DJ would start looking for options other than the intended receiver, I honestly believe he he would have a couple hundred more yards on his season stat sheet, and he I honestly believe he would have no less than 2-3 more TDs and plus yardage if he would just look at other receivers that are allowed to run free down field, and there are times that there isn't a defender within 10 yards of the receivers that I'm talking about.

They are so open at times, I ask myself if he's being coached to not improvise and throw to the intended receivers that a certain play calls for, Or, AM I the Only One that sees these Wide Open Receivers that DJ seems to Never See???

I agree 110%……

As I also play the games back and see exactly the same thing. It’s puzzling to say the least. He may be told to just concentrate on one side of the field. I’ve heard of this years ago but it’s hard to believe they are doing this in “today’s” game….?????
Go Tigers!!! ?????

Defense commentary needs two words.

Poor tackling. Worst in recent memory.

Too much running by DJ and not enough passing

Oct 17, 2022, 10:00 AM

Tigers went to ball control to quickly and averaging less than 2 yds per carry, DJ was not the answer. If he had passed a couple of more times on that last driver, it would have been a double digit victory. I think Dabo was hurt by all the criticism of that last minute TD against BC, and let his foot off the gas pedal too soon against FSU

We simply do not have a RB'ing type OL.

Our OL is good at pass blocking (which is the more important aspect of modern college FB).

But until (or unless) our biggest potential big OL dudes can get themselves ready to play OG (think Dietrich Pennington) and until Blake Miller is ready to be a big time OT (he's not there yet), we will be a mediocre run blocking team.

I love Walker Parks, but he's just not a power run blocker. I wonder if he'll play LT next season.

Yeah, I think if you had a stud transfer center that could road grade and then were able to put Parks back at RT and Putnam to RG it could be different. Right now, they're a good pass blocking line. Hopefully they are able to continue improving and by the post-season are a great pass blocking line and a good not great run blocking line.

Like last season, this seems like a year without a truly all-time great type team (like 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU).

Plus 1 for the road grading Center bc, IMO, a road grader at Center would be a huge help to our over all front 4. Need a Blake Miller bad boy attitude at Center!!!

Blake Miller has a bad boy attitude on our O line, and it's a good thing, but he needs to learn how far he can push it bc, he has already had a few flags thrown his way this season, and for sure one of those flags was for meanness, a bad boy attitude!!!

With everything that Dabo actually has going on in his head about this team, and I'm sure at some point he has questioned his decision of replacing two coordinators at once from within. So I'm saying that he hasn't given a single thought about him being questioned about the last TD at BC, in fact, I bet he was thanking the good Lord for that TD!!!

Yeah……I say it’s our…..

Oct 17, 2022, 6:24 PM

Offenses job to score when we have the ball and our Defenses job to stop the other team from scoring when they have the ball. If the other team can’t do that, then “woe unto them”. No one ever “let’s off the gas” when they are stomping our ###!!!!! Football is not a “pity” game and if you want to “kiss a snake” then go ahead but soon enough they will bite you right in the “smacker” and then tell you….”hey, you knew I was a snake”…….
Go Tigers!!!! ???????

When our two main RBs (Shipley and Mafah) carried the ball we averaged 5.7ypc. Thats without a creative scheme, use of play action / throws to the TEs to help loosen up the LBs. Rushing yards also include negative yardage from sacks (including those where the QB is responsible and not the OL), and negative yards caused by kneeling down to kill the clock.
