Deer President Barker,

There is a lot I liked about your email and there are some things I disliked. I liked the overall attempt to lead Clemson to be a place of respect. I disliked how you emphasized blame of politics over respect for the individuals who are participating in the ceremony. I liked how you lead the email with people having freedom of speech. I dislike how you insinuated that people are obligated to speak a certain way at certain times. I like the way you emphasize respect for the office of President over the person. But is dislike that you leverage the words “Bad behavior” and use Clemson fanhood to pressure people into not holding the sitting president accountable in a way that is lawful and a way that they feel is appropriate. I like that you care about honoring and respecting Clemson ROTC moving on to the next step in their service, I don’t like that you assume they are dishonored by people exercising the freedom they are swearing to protect. If you know of any service person offended by the exercise of liberty please send us an email so we don’t promote these people to high office. They will probably come up with ideas like the TSA and the Department of Homeland Security. Oh and I don’t like the assumption that descent is bad. And it scares me that you think the President has “Ultimate Authority”. Overall I think you did a good job of appeasing the complainers and beginning the end of this discussion. I applaud your public relations skills and think you are good President overall.
