I think it's a compliment of BV.

I get that. We are not elite on d because we landed Nolan Turner and rely on his natural abilities. We are elite because we recruited to a certain scheme, have a superior culture/mindset that are players stay on focus and we have a psycho-genius for a defensive coordinator.

I’d take Nolan over many in the country. Go back and watch the NC game last year. He is always around the ball making tackles or covering receivers. Had Clelin not tackled Tua on 4th and goal Nolan would have he was right there.

It's real easy to talk chit about a team and their players when they are anonymous. But I ask, what did those coaches do against Clemson on the field, absolutely nothing bc the only team that did play us tough as in UNC, I just don't think Mack Brown would take cheap shots at our team and players just bc he was offered anonymity!!!

Most teams didn’t gain crap on us until we put the reserves in, but since we did we will have players with experience to put in if someone gets hurt. We are to Deep!!
With the Dline recruits we have coming in this next class we will be pretty tough the next 3-4 years, the legacy continues.
I thought this was our off year but it looks like we don’t have off years......lol

Pretty accurate assessment of Muse IMO...
Dec 6, 2019, 10:07 AM
|
|
Muse is a really good player and he has made a lot of plays, but he’s a little bit stiff and you can get him in space in the pass game and make some plays.
Muse is one to target in coverage.

Yep. Muse even said that himself that he knows he isn't strong in coverage and that his strength is in the run game.

I wonder who said our back 7 aren't " elite level " talent and that they are simply " executing BV's scheme " ? #1 and #8 are almost as good as it gets in the country , I would consider them both elite . Muse and Wallace make a formidable tandem as starters and though not elite they are both having an outstanding year in conjunction with what Isaiah and the LBs are putting together . Our other LBs are very good , not elite but their knowledge and execution has had very few hiccups through 12 games . Just wonder which coach thought that to say it ? Only Mack Brown was able to have a little success on our coverages , and I mean very little .

BV has joked about how Skalski and Smith don't look like starting LBs for a team like Clemson, and K'Von and Muse just keep making plays. They are rarely out of position, though when they are bad things happen.
I think our DBs' discipline prevails when LSU runs their pod-routes. Most teams leave a Bengal Tiger wide open when they set up that way. But i do fear our lack of elite speed on the edges when trying to contain Dobbins of 0310 St.
Skalski and Smith have better size, speed, reach and coverage skills than Boulware did (though PB10 had great instincts), but this is one time when i wish Shaq wouldn't have left. Seemed like it took a while for him to become instinctive in BV's program, but he sure could run.

Just ok Raw talent many of the top teams have better safeties and Lbs outside of Simmons than we do. Our boys execute and I'm glad we have em but Skalski, Smith, Muse, and Wallace will have fight to be on practice squads in the nfl. I would guess that some teams have more than one nfl roster player at LB and S combined.

Not a bad article.
I think we can all agree the defense is greater than the sum of it's parts. Sure enough, players are the ones on the field making plays but CBV has gone next level this year. Into the stratosphere. He's is getting more out of (slightly) less.
On offense, TL is clearly better. Many have the two playoff games branded in their mind but TL did not play like that the entire year. He is better now than during last season and we hope he again goes to the next level during the CFP. ETN is better. The O-line is better. The receiving corp is about the same.

We are getting there but we were a little better last year imo.
Hopefully we don’t see mental errors, specially penalties in the next 3 games.

I just love how these coaches we have faced offer up advice on how to attack us. Funny last time I checked none of them have obviously figured out how to do it themselves. lol

According to them we don't have elite talent back there. They say attack these 2 guys. Problem is that the other 9 are in your qbs face or draped all over your wide receivers.

Sounds like some believe we would be average to good without BV. I’m not sure they’re wrong. When I “turn on the tape” as Dabo says, I see more elite athletes on defense (first 11) on several other top 25 teams. But No One plays better as a unit or with more discipline.

BV can coach to the strengths of his players. The job he has done this year is amazing. Best in the business. The amount of effort it has taken to change the scheme and put his players in position to be successful should be rewarded. I have a feeling it will be in January.

Are people going to be clamoring about OSU being well rested while only having to play 2 (maybe 3 with Michigan) games this year? Their starters haven't played much in seconds halfs, and they destroy the weaker teams they play. When whoever is #4 loses to them, will that be the drumbeat for that team?
