When we used to camp in the infield, we’d get there Friday afternoon. It is a party… be prepared. Make sure you have ear plugs and ear muffs.

My son and I are going. We live about 30-35 miles away so we will get there Sunday afternoon. It's going to be hot and let's hope the rain holds off.
I would start arriving around Wednesday/Thursday.

I grew up in Darlington and most of the time we just locked our doors and stayed inside until the weekend was over, hehe. I guess because we saw it every year but looking back, it was really a spectacle and I think you will have a good time and there is a lot to look at.
This jogged my memory for when we as younger high school kids worked for the track in the weeks leading up to the races. Before the drivers had these multimillion dollar motor homes a lot would fly in. My friends and I gassed up sponsor cars in the infield and then took them over to the Florence airport. We would always gun those Dodge Intrepids down the straightaway before taking them into the infield. Scary but really cool experience.
Have Fun!!

Dating myself a little but I haven't been to Darlington since they made the backstretch the start/finish. Used to be the best race, next to Bristol, to watch. They all pretty much suck now, 2 wide around Bristol???? Unheard of when racing was racing. Now it's just driving around and hoping it don't turn into a gas milage affair.
