hard on players and "makes their ### quit" basically.
I think he breeds toughness that a lot of these guys can't handle. He's had a ton of players transfer from Clemson.

shell that he wanted more minutes that he couldn't get. A lot guards got more time than him yesterday which prolly was the straw that broke it.

Sapp hit the wall last year when we got into ACC play, the freshman were beginning to pass him by. He looked promising when he got here, but never panned out. I doubt he was run off.

Noel Johnson at Auburn barely averaging 2 pt./gm Donte Hill at Old Dominion & surprising avg. 8 & 9 ppg in last 2 years.

1. Caddie posted that he believes that Brownell is a tough, hard-nosed coach and some players can't handle it, and has therefore had a ton of players transfer.
2. Melclem responded "A ton? This is the first player he recruited to leave."
3. I appropriately responded to Melclem with "Cory Stanton"
He was recruited by Brownell, and he transferred out under Brownell; that was the only reason I used him as an example. Why he did it or what he has done since has ZERO to do with it. I was pointing out to Melclem that Sapp is not the first player Brownell recruited who has left.

understand how that makes my example of Cory Stanton as a player who transferred out under Brownell prior to Sapp a bad one.

to Wright State. Who knows? He may have starred there ... Maybe made All-Horizon League (which is no small feat). Point is he was never a major college prospect... The chances of him making it here were next to none. Brownell was brought in at a tough time and immediately lost our only commit. I am sure he was clear that he needed to sign someone, but it was unfair to sign Stanton. I am not saying it was intentional on Brownell's part, but perhaps a tad naive.

####, forgot about him he left so quick. But I don't think this has anything to do with Brownell running off Sapp. Sapp saw the writing on the wall. He wasn't going to play much with the two freshmen taking his time. And next year with Blossomgame and Coleman back, it would be worse for him.

It happens. Most kids now are soft & have never been challenged by high school & AAU coaches.

If he wants toughness on this team then he can't be Mr Nice Guy. Time to get these guys to perform or hit the road. You don't have to run them off. Just make it hell and the ones who can't cut it will leave on their own.
Not saying this is what Brownell does, but its definitely what we need on the FB team.
