Kb didn’t either. Stoudt maybe would had if he had the talent around him that we have now and would have been coached up all year by Streeter.

I'm amused when I read how KB "led" us to the N/C playoffs. I think you can make a case that KB was carried along by a great team. I like KB, and believe he is a great running back. But isn't he sixth in passing efficiency in the ACC? And the Spring game doesn't count? Huh?? He and TL were both playing against what we are told are some of the best defensive players in the nation. What I saw was KB's second straight flop, and his first flop when compared to TL who, freshman that he is, tore up the track. I don't have a dog in this race, but I have two eyes and they tell me that TL could well be the greatest QB ever to play at Clemson. Do I trust our coaches to play the best QB? Probably not. Hope I'm wrong! Taking a different tack, what about Etienne!! Hope our OL shows up.

Not sure about 2.0. Kelly Briant has won every game he’s ever started and finished outside of the playoff, and that was against Bama. I say start Bryant regardless. Give the young buck a few games to get used to the atmosphere

First off, learn to spell his name. Didn't the "young buck" have an entire season (plus a terrible bowl game) to get his feet on the ground?? This isn't his first rodeo. He should have had every possible advantage going into the Spring game against a true freshman, and how did that turn out for him? TL ate him up. So, what now??

Actually, he said the exact opposite. He said Kelly will be the starter only IF he's beating or is even with Trevor by end of fall camp....if he is neither, he'll be holding the clipboard come September.

And there you have it folks....straight from Dabo that Bryant does not have the starting spot locked in already. He has "the nod" coming out of the spring, but he still has to earn it through the fall...IF Trevor is better, Trevor will get the nod, if Trevor isn't, Kelly will, if they are even, the more experience gets the nod. But in that he does NOT say "Kelly is our starter for game 1" "Kelly is our guy regardless what happens in the fall"....if that's what you read out of this, you aren't comprehending too well (some of you above).
Now, let's look forward to seeing how the competition shakes out in the fall, and let's see if Kelly improves on his downfield passing and his passing consistency to hold Trevor off. If he does, it'll show in the games. if he doesn't, that will show in the games and Trevor might not start the season, but he will be made the starter if he's beating him out in front of everyone on National TV.
So enjoy the ride...should be a fun one to watch.

I agree. This is not a popularity contest----at least not if we want to be any good. Frankly, w/KB, I can see us losing two to three regular games. To whom? Louisville, Fla. State, and very possibly N.C. State. Hope I'm wrong.

So there it is bc, when it comes to grading how much college experience that TL has compared to the college experience that KB has, it's going to be KB's job if everything is about equal. I have made this exact same statement ever since Dabo became our HC, he is partial to his seniors when it come down to who plays and who don't in high level skill positions. Nobody can say that he is wrong bc none of us fans are at every practice, nor do we have the keys to the film room. If TL is actually better, he will have to wait until KB makes a crucial mistake in a game before TL will have the chance to prove in the public eyes that he is the better QB. The best thing we all can do, is stop the bickering and just wait and see bc KB will have to make a game changing mistake before we see TL as a starter!!! These are my last words about this non QB controversy bc there isn't one until Dabo says there is!!!

He's partial to game experience when things are equal...which makes sense at the start of the year. IMO, the real "bias" doesn't come into play until you quite literally see one just failing over and over and they don't give the other guy the chance as early as it should come....or you see the non-starter clearly outperforming time and time again, yet they still keep in the "seniority". To me, it's not about seniority before the freshman has taken a snap, it's about game experience then. Once he gets some experience, then it can be viewed that way.
He also never said Kelly had to make a mistake.. He said Trevor just had to flat out be better and beat him. That does not mean Kelly has to be bad, it just means Trevor has to be that much better than whatever he grades like, good or bad.

You don't have to make a "crucial mistake" to be very average or mediocre as a QB. A number of "game managers" have succeeded at the position when they had a great team to support them. But these guys will never really take over a game or be the crucial difference in the outcome of a game such as great QBs frequently do. IMHO, KB can probably get us by until we come up against a fast, mobile defense such as Alabama's. Then they will crowd the LOS and dare him to throw downfield as "Bama" did. And then they will plant him when he tries to run. Game over.

That's fine with me.
I just don't want to hear 6 months of "we can win with any of these guys" when we really don't mean it; when an injured starter can insert himself into the starting lineup at gametime because even at 50% he's 'better han his backup'; when even Dabo offers prayers of thanksgiving that the starter is so sacrificial as to play when hurt to prevent the inevitable loss we would suffer if someone else started; only to have said starter get knocked out and we lose anyway without our backups having played in a situation where they could have succeeded.
But Dabo has always been passive when injured players want to play. He's old skool like that.
A QB's prep to start is far different than coming off the bench in a 'rescue' operation. Some are good relief pitchers; some aren't. I actually think that was part of KB's problem in the spring game. The defense was already flying around while he was getting up to game speed.

I get that, and I agree with the philosophy. I just want a really honest evaluation. We saw that play out once before with the guy who, "gave us the best chance to win" (but really didn't), and after the experiment failed and a loss at FSU in a game we should have won, the best player finally got the nod. I just want the best player to be the guy.

My favorite QB is the one that can win us another NC if the opportunity presents it's self. Starting September, this season will be the best chance we will have for winning another NC as we'll have for a few seasons!!!
