Breast Cancer Awareness Game as well as being Homecoming, a Big Deal. Those who read regularly on here know that it IS A REALLY BIG DEAL TO ME. My wife is a Breast Cancer Survivor, being diagnosed and undergoing surgery last year. She was one of the lucky ones, at least so far. Early detection caught her cancer in the earliest stages, where it had not advanced to the lymph nodes.

But now, those "Sentinels" are gone, and hopefully she still has many years of life still left to live and cheer on the Tigers. Anything I can personally do to publicize the fight against this scourge called cancer, I will do.

There is a young woman (barely 30 years old) who is the grand daughter of one of my wife's best friends in our church, who has not been so fortunate. She was recently diagnosed at late Stage 3, and will undergo a double mastectomy, followed by all kinds of treatments, to try and prolong her life. Her prognosis is guarded, at best.

As Christians, we are taught not to hate. But I hate cancer. I hate it with every fiber of my being. I hate it in every form it takes. But, none more than breast cancer. It is the one form of cancer that EVERY woman lives in unspoken fear of. I pray for the day when that is no longer the case. Please educate you and yours about this terrible disease. Early detection and treatment really can save a life.

Could not agree more.

My daughter is named after my aunt who lost the fight to Breast Cancer. They never met but their my aunt's fighting spirit lives on in that child. We will not stop the fight until we conquer this disease.

it on and off for 14 years before it finally claimed him. He had surgeries to remove tumors, and went into remission for over five years a couple of times. But, it came back, and the third time was the death charm, so to speak. Some day, some researcher somewhere will unlock the key to commonality for all forms of cancer. I do believe that. I may not be alive to see it, but it WILL happen someday, at some small, privately funded laboratory. (I have serious doubts about it ever happening at large funded labs, because if they cure it, they are out of a job. Cynical, I know, but probably realistic as well.)

My family has some experience with this. Grandmother (Mom's mom) had breast cancer in the 1930's. She had surgery and lived cancer free for another 50 plus years. Her daughter, my mom, turned 100 this year and is a breast cancer survivor. She had breast cancer 30 years ago and is happy and healthy these days. Sometimes we get busy but we should count our blessings every day because we had good outcomes. Pls get your loved ones to get checked as a part of routine health care

I’m with you 76er. My dad died of cancer when I was 15. There is not a family anywhere that hasn’t been touched by this terrible disease. Let’s do all we can to kill it!

76er® Thank you for sharing. I am so happy that your wife is a survivor and that you and she will have many more glorious years left together.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

Agree hole heartedly. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in her right breast almost thirty years ago. It was contained in a small area and a minor operation got it all. Annual mammograms bring good news. She is 85 now and we celebrated our 65th anniversary in April and will celebrate the 66th anniversary of our first date on tomorrow. Yes it was a whirlwind courtship. We have proven all the doubters wrong.
