The drop off is massive once you you get past Knaak.

I just replied the same on another post. Our pitching will probably be our downfall when we play the deeper teams. The other thing we lack is a big homerun threat. I love this team and I hope some of the pitching arms come along and we continue those timely hits.

Depends on the draw. Get a good draw and we can make it to Omaha. But actually winning the national championship would be hard.

Bellanger’s mission given what the Tigers are after 26 games is to get Ethan Darden back to a solid 5 inning starter. His erractic first couple innings are messing up the pitching staff for both Saturday and Sunday. Can’t have that for a postseason regionals. Need to get this fixed fast to maintain a chance at a national seed.
I’m concerned this team is warning track power or these Marruci bats simply don’t have the same sweet spot as the Easton’s they used in recent years. Other teams are jacking the ball out under the same conditions. I wonder how much player input or atleast evaluation of the new bats was done under real game conditions before making the decision to switch?

Today close…… soon yes.
People quickly forget how awful our pitching was last year and we were still close to Omaha…. The starting pitching isn’t as good, but the bullpen arms are the reason we could still do it because to win a super regional in 2 games allows you to empty out your pitching. We wouldn’t even have to throw Leguernic…..

I think Darden is still a solid weekend guy, if we can get him to the 5th inning and then lean on the bullpen we will be fine. But we desperately need a better Sunday option. LeGuernic is talented but he's just not ready to be a Sunday starter in the ACC right now. He's gone 8.1 innings in his last 4 starts... that's about as bad as it gets. I'd flip him and BJ Bailey and give Bailey Sunday starts and LeGuernic midweek starts unless one of these injured/formerly injured guys (Gillen, Bell, Samol, etc.) gives us a better Sunday option.

Dardy will be fine. He had a bad start against one of the better hitting teams we’ll face all season, and was not helped out by his defense at all. He was getting ground balls early, but an error, a fielder’s choice where the runner was safe (probably another error, at least a mental one), and that third inning just spiraled. Dardy is a veteran guy, he’ll be ok.
Sunday is a disaster, I agree. LeGuernic is not a D1 pitcher. Drew, Garris, McGovern, probably Allen, are all better out of the pen I believe. Losing Moehler, Bell, and Gillen all at once was a gut punch, and getting 2/3 of them back will help, but they still won’t be starting a game anytime soon I wouldn’t imagine. I think Bailey has to start, at least as an opener. Maybe get 3-4 strong innings, and then go from there.

JL is 100% a D1 pitcher. He’s young. When he’s on he has amazing stuff. LHP up to 93/94 with great movement on his off speed. When he gets it dialed in he will be tough to hit. They probably planned on Moehler going on Sundays but injuries happen. I would be they had a different plan with JL before all the other guys went down.

He was like a top 100 recruit coming out of high school. He's definitely a D1 pitcher, like you said. If he were to enter the transfer portal he'd have at least half a dozen SEC schools blowing up his phone.
He just needs to work some kinks out. I feel like he just misses his spots too much which I imagine has something to do with mechanics and his ability to repeat his delivery. I'm not a pitching coach by any stretch of the imagination, but that's something that a good coach is able to fix. Look at Mahlstedt who brought his arm slot up just a touch in order to get more downward action on his pitches and he went from an inconsistent middle relief guy to one of the better closers in college baseball this year.
