yes in this day and age of NIL and portal, money is big influence, but culture matters as well, and I love our culture and what Dabo and the coaches have set up, faith based, creating great young men, academics, AND athletic excellence and competitiveness….
Without culture, you can’t keep a team together… look at USC Trojans as ONE example, already lost more than 20 Players!!!!!!!! and really good ones…………..
We made it to the playoffs this year when no one thought we could (accept true fans), and now we are poised to make a real run next year…. I think Dabo knows what he’s doing and he does make the right moves when needed……

and I wouldn't say we made it to the playoffs when nobody thought we could..........all we had to do was win an ACC that was downright pathetic. That's ALWAYS possible no whether Clemson is good or bad.......just be better than the crappy ACC.
Dabo FINALLY seems to be moving w/ this NIL and portal mindset......took him long enough, but better late than never. We "SHOULD" be set up for a very solid year next year w/ some portal additions and opening the pocketbook to retain and obtain. The defense must be fixed and probably need another 1-3 impact portal players depending on needs post spring, but the needle is FINALLY moving in the right direction. Dabo definitely felt pressure to utilize NIL/portal after 4 lackluster seasons (compared to previous elite years), after some defections in the HS recruiting class left us w/ a mere 14-15, the low success rate vs teams w/ a pulse the last 4 seasons..............so yeah he seems to be making some moves now that shoulda been made earlier, but it's a positive step back to the path of elite.

I am glad Dabo has finally adapted but can’t help but wonder where we would be if he had implemented his current strategy a couple of years sooner

Correct Pheebo. Look, Dabo's ideal would, in fact, be ideal if things had not had changed. But nothing disappoints more in life that expectations that cannot be consistently fulfilled...having a belief that doesn't correlate to the CURRENT reality. In any profession, one must evolve. When you choose not to use portal, you better be elite at HS recruiting if your goal is to consistently contend with your peers for NCs.
IMO, nothing crushes culture more than unnecessary losing or self-limiting yourself.
Been telling ppl for a while, CDS is very aware of needed changes, but was hoping for more clarity/resolution so it wouldn't get to this point. Give CDS some credit, some changes have been successfully made and our retention is second to none. But culture does not prevent every good player from leaving....no matter how good you treat a kid. Some of the same kids you are protecting will bail no matter what you do. Unavoidable. Knowing this reality...You GOTTA backfill some.....while mainly relying on HS recruiting. Good thing is, CDS can retain all the important stuff and implement mostly minor changes that will greatly increase the margin for error AND keep the culture strong. For too long, we've been unnecessarily playing the game with one hand tied behind our back. Thankfully those days, it now appears from recent actions by CDS, are finally over. of the entitled, coddled since 6th grade, P4 college football player! We should muse over their thoughts on any subject from quantum physics to amending civil rights policy for individuals with limited English proficiency i.e. illegal aliens pouring over the southern border, Islamic zealots declaring Jihad & proliferating the Caliphate transition as they await the next..prophet and other toxic infestations highly resistant to cultural assimilation. 'Power to the players" and "diversity without question", always have faith in Diversity to weaken from within, erasing any sign of a homogenous populace...thereby saving the world from the tyranny of the last great Republic of the West.
