IDK, lower expectations, but many of those fans still remember Colt Brennan. He was absolutely amazing. Best stats in NCAA history until Burrow. 73% completions, 6,000 total yards, 63 total touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. DJ couldn't have those stats if there was no defense on the field. And Brennan brought so much fire and energy to the game (actually learned the correct haka to pay homage to the state). He took Hawaii, without a single 4 star, to the Sugar Bowl (though they ran into the UGA buzz saw (that was the best team in 2007 by a huge margin)).

Click on that 247 link & scroll down to the comment Greg Biggins writes in his pro comparison (JaMarcus Russell).
I wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially a good kid like D.J., although JaMarcus did make a ton of money on his original draft deal.
No matter where D.J. ends up, I truly wish this kid all the best.
