the game, then. Lots of missed calls on UNC, not a single holding flag that I remember, and several questionable penalties on Clemson...

Ya they called a phantom offsides on UNC, but they also ignored the UNC targeting, so it all came out in the wash. I thought the officiating was fair for most of the game.

They still would've needed to score a TD in 60 seconds + a 2pt conversion, so they need to stop w/ the "it cost them the game" nonsense...
Next, UNC and Clemson both averaged about 6 penalties and 47-48 penalty yards per game this year.
UNC in ACCCG...6 for 44 yards (right on average and includes the "phantom"/not so phantom offsides call)
Clemson in ACCCG....11 for 80
Lots of possible, legit reasons for that--it's one game and the average for a season doesn't really matter in one game, but...those were our highest outputs in penalties and penalty yardage on the season with the app St game being second (9 for 75).
Seems like if the ACC were doing something with the officials to help us win, the questionable calls would've started much earlier than 1 minute left in the game, when we were already up 8 pts...
These guys are trying to cover their behinds because they were all so gung ho on UNC last week and realized, after we woodshedded them, that they have no clue...trying to save face.

All he does is talk trash about Clemson while wearing his Miami hat. Yesterday it was Dabo should be suspended for yelling at our punter, today Clemson's season is collusion by the league and TOMORROW he will have some other non sense pouring out of his mouth. In addition to his lack of knowledge about sports in general, his show is just terrible. I couldn't watch it before he started trashing our team, now I definitely can't stand to watch it.

1st--Cowherd is a Northwestern/West Coast guy who probably only recently learned that Clemson was located in South Carolina..........after listening to this guy for years, I can tell you he is very aware of his place in the pecking order of radio sports shows. He is notorious for saying stuff just to invite criticism from a larger audience

If the fix is in...why make the call on a play so easily reviewable by the TV crew...
They say you can call holding on every play...many calls are close...why make a call on something so black and white...
simply Clemson hate.

Maybe Cowherd is just this bad. I don't really listen, but wow. That was terrible. How embarrassing must it be to have a guy come on your show and say "I have a friend who watches a lot of ACC football, and he says the league is reffed to make certain outcomes."
WE can say that. We're biased fans blowing off steam. This guy is a paid Fox Sports guy.
As you might know, I am not prone to hyperbole. Having said that, I think that might have been the worst example of sports journalism I've ever seen. Ever.
I'm sure the fix was on when the first UNC drive was helped by two questionable personal foul calls. Or how about the three false starts they called against us in one drive? How about the questionable interception they had...what a great opportunity to give us back the ball without it looking like you were trying to influence the game. What about the targeting or the illegal formation that were both not called (unless the offsides was the illegal formation) in the on-sides kick?
The Whitlock guy didn't even seem like he'd watched the game. Was the fix in at Bama? Because they had just a bad of a situation...arguably worse. At least there was some chatter about UNC slipping in to the Top 4, or Clemson staying in it even with a loss. There was no one on the planet that thought Florida was getting in or Bama was staying in with two losses. And he brought up the Duke/Miami game. Can he explain how that terrible officiating actually helped the conference?
That was truly one for the ages. I don't know Whitlock so I have no idea if he is at a level where he should be embarrassed. Cowherd though...wooooooooow.

And I have no idea he'll hang his hat on that. "What? I said that I don't generally prescribe to those theories." Pathetic. An eighth grade debate team could have dismantled those comments and humiliated that guy. Even better...if he's part of your new "Fox Sports" family, anyone could have clearly articulated the counter-argument in a respectful manner. He chose not to because, hack that he apparently is, he wants the drama.
Multiple 15 yard personal fouls they could have overlooked.
Multiple false starts they could have overlooked.
A fumble for UNC that could have easily been overturned.
A targetting and an illegal formation penalty both not called on UNC in the On-Sides Kick.
The fact that the flag was coming out before the play was decided.
The classic assumption that that call gave us the win (as opposed to the beating we gave them for four quarters).
The idea that this is an ACC thing when the SEC was in a much more precarious situation with respect to the playoffs if Florida won.
A guest who starts his accusation with "I have a friend in Miami who watches a lot of ACC football"!?!
A reference to a (admittedly) poorly reffed game earlier in the year (Duke vs Miami) that gave the win to a Miami team that just lost 58-0 the week before over a ranked conference opponent, to NO advantage for the ACC.
Teerrrrrrrrible.
