who was a first round draft pick and arguably the best DB in football.
He is just mad that he is not as good or did not ever fill out the potential that was there due to his lack of self-awareness. Sometimes the mirror is helpful, you gotta look at it and understand.

sometimes the mirror is where you look especially when another couple of Clemson players are among the best in the NFL at the position.
Makuba is running his mouth and writing checks that cannot be cashed, by any measure.
What an idiotic statement from this young fella, maybe Texas is a good fit for his lack of knowledge.

We don't have to agree with him.
I think our secondary is generally well-coached, as evidenced by their performance in the past as well as the NFL guys you mentioned. I also look for improvement over the course of their Clemson careers, which I believe we have seen in many of them.
Since he didn't think he was getting the coaching he should, he did the right thing to transfer elsewhere. Next man up.

Opinions, very subjective but sometimes proof exists such as here. He was hurt a lot, very ineffective in coverage, while others that have been mentioned (Wiggins/Wallace/Terrell) are all shining brightly on the NFL level. He is making a statement about another institution and coaching staff that is blatantly false....where is the opinion.
Yes he is allowed to have opinions of course, such as the Whopper is better than Big Mac....this kid done flew off the deep end and is attacking those who have put multiple starting defensive backs/safeties/linebackers into the NFL.
Reflection, self-awareness, important in life. He does not have this trait, yet. Maybe he can find it but to state this as opinion is

Or he was lazy and unmotivated, relying on getting better with time without putting in the proper work ethic, resting on his laurels, saw others breeze by him in the development category (not to mention on the field), and decided to deflect the blame.

Makuba doing what kids do sometimes, not using his brain.
Young man, you were hindered by your own inability to listen and grasp. Terrell listened and became great. Wiggins listened and became great. K'Von Wallace listened, became great. Isiah Simmons listened, became great.
The only thing that hinders you is your own perception and lack of maturity. Be better, learn from your mistakes and do not blame others when others with you and before you succeeded.
Texas has won how many championships in the last 10 years ??? Texas has produced how many starting DB's in the NFL ???

Almost everyone who has left has not played a lot where they went to. Mukuba was hurt…… That’s not Clemson’s fault.
Dude has not played one snap at Texas…… Why put the pressure on yourself. Less is more. Put in the work and don’t burn bridges

Correct!!! Reed has put a couple of 1st round picks in the NFL but Safeties Coach Conn (who coached Makuba) hasn't had any in the 1st round. Like it or not that is what resonates with a lot of these young men. How can a position coach help them get to the NFL and does that coach have a proven track record of doing that. Reed has shown that Conn hasn't. The highest drafted Safety from Clemson since 2016 has been TJ Green (2nd round) and he was coached by Reed. I believe it is a 2 way street. The player has to want to improve and the coach has to provide the knowledge, training and opportunity for the player. If Clemson is not going to invest heavily in NIL to recruit it must have coaches with a proven track record of getting players to the NFL. Right now that's Reed, Luke, Eason & Rumph (Jeff Scott as former WR coach). It appears Makuba may not have been willing to be accountable for his part but the appearance of a position coach not getting players drafted high makes them an easy target to place blame when a player sees their dream of playing professionally fading.

ago. It's a shame Clemson has no reputation for developing players over time. Oh wait a minute, we do. I get the feeling Mukuba may have improved over time but more talented players improved faster and passed him. Why look in the mirror and challenge yourself when you can blame the school and move on, right?
