Corporate Logos on football jerseys?

Sep 3, 2012, 12:58 PM

Didn't realize Chick Fil A rented space on Clemson's jersey.

Sep 3, 2012, 1:20 PM [ in reply to I know, maybe another company should sponsor games ]

Lets just do away with home games.

Chick fil a does this every year to try and open up the college football season with a bang, instead of seeing every team play a cupcake the first weekend

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea, because we couldn't do it without Chick Fil A

Sep 3, 2012, 1:22 PM

I'm just saying, it's a regular season game, not a bowl game, not a bonus, but a regular season game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yea, because we couldn't do it without Chick Fil A

Sep 3, 2012, 1:25 PM

Yeah...at a neutral site...in a weekend-long event called the Chick-Fil-A kickoff classic.

Nothing tacky about it. You're making way too big of a deal out of this.

Let's just do away with all sponsors and raise the money ourselves. How much extra are you willing to donate? $1,000? $10,000?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think we are losing out on money then

Sep 3, 2012, 1:27 PM

Why can't we find someone to sponsor the Ball St. game. I mean, it's all about the money right, so let's start selling some jersey space.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think we are losing out on money then

Sep 3, 2012, 1:29 PM

The Ball State game is a home game. Chick-Fil-A Classic was at a neutral site. Someone had to pay to rent the Georgia dome.

Re: Corporate Logos on football jerseys?

Sep 3, 2012, 1:13 PM

It's a regular season bowl game. The teams got invited to come play there. We got a lot more money than we usually do for an away game. Do you have a problem with Discover putting their name on or jersey for the OB? Or how bout Allstate in the Sugar Bowl?

Stop nitpicking, it was a little patch on 1 shoulder. It's not like it altered the entire look of our jerseys.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what do you call Nike, Under Armor, adidas, etc?

Sep 3, 2012, 1:13 PM

what about FedEx Orange Bowl, or the Champs Sports Bowl?

is that any different?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Those are Bowl games, this is a regular season game

Sep 3, 2012, 1:17 PM

Or is there no difference? So you would you be cool with any other games being sponsored by corporations?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Those are Bowl games, this is a regular season game

Sep 3, 2012, 1:27 PM

Yes. If having a 2" x 3" patch on the jersey brings relatively more in revenue than we would normally achieve, I'm all for it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: what do you call Nike, Under Armor, adidas, etc?

Sep 3, 2012, 2:47 PM [ in reply to what do you call Nike, Under Armor, adidas, etc? ]

Nike, Under Armor, and Adidas all make sportswear, including player uniforms. They have a right to put their logo on their products, and they pay for schools to use their brand exclusively. So yes, that is slightly different than some of the other sponsors you mentioned.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good Lord

Sep 3, 2012, 1:17 PM

Even when we play a good game someone has to ##### about the littlest things, common it's only a patch.

Sep 3, 2012, 1:21 PM

they did set up the matchup, they're the ones that sponsored and advirtised the game so we could have a marquee game on opening weekend, so no I don't have a problem with them putting a patch on the jersey.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm just saying if it was such an awesome idea

Sep 3, 2012, 1:32 PM

Why not do it for every game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I'm just saying if it was such an awesome idea

Sep 3, 2012, 1:36 PM

Because every game's not at a neutral site. And every game's not a primetime matchup that's promoted for months prior by a well-known company like Chick-Fil-A.

It's marketing...it benefits Clemson/Auburn...and it benefits Chick-Fil-A. There's nothing wrong with partnering with a company when both parties best interests are in mind. Unless you're a raging communist....which, you're campaigning hard for to make it look like you are.

I think I'm done. Most people agree that what your'e saying doesn't make any sense.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Exactly, lets start selling some jersey space***

Sep 3, 2012, 1:32 PM [ in reply to Exactly, lets start selling some jersey space*** ]

Don't be shocked when you see non-traditional programs start to do this.

I think we'll see teams like Memphis and Houston making corporate deals to try to close the TV revenue gap sooner rather than later. (unless there's an NCAA rule I'm not aware of)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah...I see that you're trolling. And I changed my dammed mind about being done. Don't like it? Sorry.

But that trolling doesn't seem to have a definitive purpose.

That you would insinuate...after reading through this retarded thread...that I'm the one who's not "smart enough" is laughable at best.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And yet you continue to argue

Sep 3, 2012, 1:43 PM

You think I'm trolling (which I'm not, I really don't think we should have corporate logos on our jerseys for regular season games) and yet you continue to feed me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: And yet you continue to argue

Sep 3, 2012, 1:45 PM

???

So I continue to argue? You still haven't made a case that makes any sense.

All you've said is "herp derp we did it for the Auburn game why not do it for every game" when everyone has made it clear that there we specific reasons for doing it during the Auburn game...namely to promote the game and cover the costs of hosting at a neutral site...IN ADDITION to bringing more revenue.

It's fine that you have a viewpoint. You just seem to want to act like a kid about it all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ah, I'm acting like a phaggot

I would say they acted like you're acting right now.

I can't tell if you're drunk, or what.

Anyhow. Have a great Labor Day...and let me know when you come up with some logic better than a 10 year old for your anti corporate stance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sorry about my anti corporate football jersey stance

Sep 3, 2012, 1:52 PM

So do you also have an anti corporate football jersey stance for most regular season games? I have yet to figure out your stance.

Maybe everyone should be wearing Chik-Fil-A patches around to show support for traditional morality.

I never said I was done. Also, it would take a good bit of money for Chick Fil A to get a spot on my polo shirt, that is a fact.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I thought you were done

Sep 3, 2012, 1:46 PM

Read above. I changed my mind about being done. What?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

does your entire wardrobe consist of generic clothing?

Sep 3, 2012, 1:58 PM [ in reply to I thought you were done ]

hopefully you don't own anything with a Nike swoosh, an Izod gator, or even a Clemson tiger paw. Because in that case you would be guilty of PAYING a corporation to display THEIR logo, which is even worse than getting paid to do it.

Don't be a hypocrite.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As I stated before, I have no issue with clothing companies

Sep 3, 2012, 2:02 PM

Putting their logos on their clothes. I don't generally go for the giant clothing company billboard style, but to each his own. I just question having college football players wearing additional corporate logos for regular season games. I'm fine with bowl games, but where do you draw the line. Ok, only neutral site games, ok, but only prime time games...etc...etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just give up

Sep 3, 2012, 4:37 PM

People actually tried to have a conversation with you but you are too dumb, ignorant, or too much of a troll to actually say anything different. It was the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Classic, so there is a patch on our jerseys. They also had cups all summer with our helmet on them. We got substantially more revenue than we would from an away game. We got a ton of publicity. So what is wrong with it?
