South Carolina just proved how far behind Clemson is with NIL

South Carolina is funding *2* legitimate QBs this coming year in Sellers and Noland (plus Cutter Woods backing them up), while we're celebrating a single DE transfer and praying that our QB doesn't leave early for the NFL because we'll have nothing promising remaining.
I sure hope this whole 110 Society / Clemson Ventures / Everett Sports Marketing thing starts playing out soon.

Yea... He's got no chance to play. But I don't think he's taking their NIL money either.
Supposedly Clemson told him he's not good enough to play at Clemson. No idea if that's true.

Try to look at it this way. We have what is probably the best returning QB in the country for 2025 as our starter. We have what looks to be a talented backup in Viz who just needs experience but has everything it takes to be a good one, both physically and mentally. We just signed a really good prospect for the future who on film, at least, looks like a real star in the making. Do we need to spend money on another backup? I don't think so. Seems to me Dabo hit the jackpot on his first two REAL portal guys as they will fill a need, which is exactly what the portal was designed to do.

But we only have this guy for 1 year. 2 of his 3 years experience is community college. I like his size and hope he pans out but he is far from a sure thing.

they have no option but to load up in the portal. Only guys costing them money to retain are Sellers and the DE. Meanwhile we have to retain Cade, Wesco, Moore, Williams, Parker, Woods, Brown, Woodaz, Miller, Terrell, Barnes, likely Capehart, and others. Night and day allocation of NIL funds between the 2 programs

or try to replace them in the portal? Their entire front 7 of their very good defense is gone. Roster churn, or roster stability? FSU tried the replacement route last year. That's an extreme outlier, but they were regarded as winning the portal last year

Sellers is likely gone after next year. Noland has 4 years of eligibility remaining. This isn't about next year... It's about the future of your program.

Sellers may improve his passing and become a first round pick

but that's not his strength right now. Unless his passing improves a lot, he's going to be there 2 more years. He's a freak athlete. He's not a polished QB right now. If he develops, good for him. I actually like the kid.

yards per attempt than Cade. They are a run first team so he doesn’t have the total yards or TDs that Cade has. But it’s not like Sellers is some running back playing QB, plus he’s a freshman.

which is how you get drafted. Can he take the leap he needs to passing, reading defenses, not scrambling first. He has a chance to, but will it happen in one year. I really like the kid, but he's still in a very developmental stage in his career

Sellers also has more INTs with way fewer passes than Cade but let’s ignore that, he’s not currently in the same passing league as Cade and arguing that is Cootish. He’s a great athlete but striper is spot on with his assessment. Let’s see how Sellers does his sophomore year when teams have a season of tape on him.

I’m not arguing that he’s a better passing QB than Cade. But folks on here are acting like he can’t throw the ball, when he’s actually a solid passer, he just doesn’t do it that much.

which is a more in depth QB metric but very good #s from a fr QB, very similar to Cade's sophomore season. He wont be surprising anyone as a sophomore.

And lower in every stat that actually matters. I believe the consensus was that Cade needsto find a new job after posting identical numbers last year.

Can you wait until the next group of portal guys announce after Spring practice to repost what every other complainer has put on here ? We don't know how many QBs will be available by then or if we even need one. Maybe spend a little on D-line first?

Its genuinely a waste of money. While they could have got some replacements for their secondary they spent money on a kid who will sit the bench for two years. But I wouldn’t expect them to understand that concept with there degrees from the university of second choice.

How do you know if Noland is any good or not? He didn’t play at Ohio State. And the writing on the wall saids he wasnt bearing out who they had. Although I know the Julian kid was rated ahead of him coming out of high school. He may be a good quarterback. May not be. A lot of money to give a kid who may not play for you.

I hope Clemson is very different in how they do things vs SC. SC is irrelevant and has always been that way. Sure they will win some but in the end their trophy case will remain bare.

South Carolina doesn’t pay their coaches nearly as much as we do, let’s free up 2 million by getting rid of DC and let’s restructure or have dabo donate half that salary to help instead of staying behind because we can’t afford 3 coaches getting paid 16 million dollars and expect players whose making the coaches that salary to get the leftovers of what isn’t being funded back into the coaches pockets

2026 and beyond does not look promising for Clemson at the moment. Poor recruiting, lack of depth, and very little portal usage will start to show. Better make some changes or South Carolina will be winning against Clemson more often.
