I thought we’d try to help him along by offering up some nifty titles for him to choose from for his autobiography.
I thought of:
1. 2Wars-2 Colleges
2. What I Saw You Won’t Believe
3. Florida Boy Turns Clemson Orange
4. I Ain’t Dying Til I Turn 100
Hey, I know but see if you are a title creator!

Found out the hard way that he couldn’t wear the same clothing since Orange colors were different..
But, that Clemson was the better place for him & Family!

Franc, I'm not not going to directly link an article on TCI bc I loath them, but if you are inclined and want to read up on ole Joe I will leave you with the search page from google: https://www.google.com/search?q=joe+cocke+clemson&rlz=1CABUSA_enUS881&oq=Joe+Cocke&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j35i39j0l6.6778j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
It is one of the very few times I have gone on that site and only to read the articles on him. He is truly a remarkable Clemson man and I feel blessed to have gotten a chance to "know" him from this website. I really almost hesitate to put quotes on that word because he just seems so genuine that I actually feel like I really know him even though I've never actually met him in the flesh...

Well Bill, I have a tentative title. This book will cover WW2 and the Korean War so the title, "CALLED", for WW2 and "RECALLED" for the Korean War. Title is subject to change.
I started at the Univ. of Florida in the summer of 1940, returned after WW2 and received my degree in 1949. I started at Clemson about 1957 or 1958 while working full time, plus traveling, and received my degree in 1963.

Joe, I've been reading your post for a long time and thought you must live in Clemson. It wasn't until I read your story in The Clemson Insider and saw your picture that I put it all together. It seems like I've know you all my life through my father Mike. I grew up in Clemson in the 50's to the mid 70's. Dad was a Professor of Textile Design for 30 plus years. Dad always considered Joe a great friend. Last year when Dad passed away, Joe was at the funeral and had great words of comfort.
Good luck on your book and God's Speed.

How about this?
“Called to be The Greatest Generation”.
There are only 3 or 4 men that I’ve ever personally known that I truly admired. Straight, unfiltered, childlike admiration. One of them, a Marine, served in WW2, Korea and then left the marines when they wanted to send him to Vietnam. He had 8 kids at home when they wanted him to go to Vietnam. 5 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars......a walking, talking miracle. He’s at Arlington now.

with Clemson or other schools takes time to read Joe's words when posted.
They are words of living history...a rarity indeed...which connect all of us to a generation nearly gone. Although now a Golden Tiger myself into my 70's, I am keen to enjoy our company with Joe on our site, savoring all his words.
May he continue to thrive, and may Almighty God continue to bless him in his longevity.
