It took me 2 1/2 years but I wrote a book and now it is a finished and published product. It's called, Built for the Rebuild! Not bad for a small town country boy that didn't finish college. It's 32 chapters of life changing material. Never Give Up and Go Tigers!🐅

I have a similar story. I had a construction accident that led to three back surgeries. One being a fusion at L5, S1 which had negative results. I was over prescribed OxyContin (80mg three times daily) and was somewhat opioid ignorant. That’s an end of life dosage not meant for entry level advanced pain management. I was addicted in a hurry. I struggled for years until I finally entered a program that worked. I’ve been clean since 2008 and I am working on my masters degree in addiction counseling. I will work in counseling while I take my doctorate for a PsyD which is a medical doctor crossed with psychiatrist. My remaining years will be spent giving back and helping others manage their addiction. My goal is to help one person until it snowballs into something big.
I understand how intimidating it can be to tell your personal story especially when addiction is part of the problem. Society places an incredible stigma on addicts. Addiction is no different than any other disease. People can’t understand that an addict really doesn’t have a choice. It’s almost impossible to overcome without help. Through God, all things are possible. I will order a copy of your book and may make it required reading for my clientele.

A great accomplishment that I could never pull off! I started writing a book in 1958 and have yet to excel. I applaud you.
My bride was a librarian and she would definitely applaud you. A lady who should never have died at the age of 43!

Congratulations! I will get a copy and look forward to reading. It’s amazing how God can humble men to turn it for good. I know he sure did a number on me. I think our valleys have to be really low sometimes to break our pride and arrogance in these flesh bodies and start living in the spirit for Him. On the bright side, It just means He loves us and we are chosen by Him from the foundation of the earth. That’s a powerful realization!

Thanks and I most definitely will look for this book. I'm about to start teaching ethics classes at County jail facilities. Hoping to make a huge impact in this area. I also agree with what you said about men and getting humbled and turning their life around. I have a chapter in the book called, revisit your pain! The pain we go through is there because it is connected to our purpose. The only way to find my purpose is to revisit the pain we went through to find it.
