Confidence level

Nov 18, 2014, 3:02 PM

What's the realistic chance that Cole's confidence takes a rebound? I mean honestly, what could anybody say or do to get his mind right to play in that last game? And think about how Schuessler felt when he got passed unfit the start after Stoudt's disaster @ GT.

I don't think it is a matter of rebounding. The real problem is the loss of confidence in the first place. Good QBs think they are the best when they are throwing TDs and INTs. The first sign of adversity and negative thoughts start to creep into your mind. Cole has shown he can get down on himself and that trend will repeat itself no matter how well he starts the game.

Clemson is a 40 point fav. this Satday, I told some friends that our Tigers couldn't score 40 against a defense from a nursing home team. This is a great opportunity for Cole to go out and have some fun against a much weaker opponent and maybe get some confidence back. I know he can play this game, I've seen him do it. He came in a couple times in clean up and was downright impressive.

Maybe, but maybe not. We should start Cole, there's no doubt about that. It's Senior Day and he should start. He's "earned" it. But after the 1st quarter, Nick should see the remainder of the game. Someone else needs there confidence built up as well.

Has he earned the right to start on Senior Day because it's Georgia State? Would you feel the same way if Senior Day was next week against the Coots and Deshaun was 100% healthy?

Yes I would. Starting doesn't mean playing the whole game. If he wanted to go a series or two so be it. If Watson was 100%, we wouldn't need to have this conversation.

I can respect your thought on that. He's had some moments where he looked good and some that makes people wonder how he ever got to this level. I just want the best player on the field that gives us the best chance to win. It may be Cole at this particular moment, but it's hard to believe at times. I just hope and pray we get Deshaun back to healthy to improve our chance of winning next week.

At some point....

Nov 18, 2014, 3:31 PM

Young Mr. Stoudt has got to ignore all his past mistakes and doubts and just go out there and do the job he's been trained to do and one he's been doing on the practice field for years. Perhaps our staff needs to stop being concerned about his "confidence" and tell him he's got a job to do and he needs to get out on the field and get it done......or, as the saying goes, "die trying"
