Completely torn or partially torn?

posts and articles are ambiguous on this. The fact that they said it is low risk of further injury suggests completely torn, but the lack of swelling/recovery time suggests a small tear. Anyone have a good answer? Is the brace just that good?
I trust our doctors, but I think we all can agree we don't jeopardize his career (here and beyond) even in the slightest with our bowl game.
