What I would like to see from the offense against Maryland

Oct 24, 2013, 9:54 AM

I want to see Tajh throw the ball to all of his receivers, not just Sammy. I would like to see Bryant catch the ball in the open field, and not just hugging the sideline (I had no idea he was allowed to run between the numbers until the end of the FSU game). I would like to see Rod and Brooks have about the same number of carries, maybe moving Rod back into his third down back role he excelled at last year. I would like to see Tajh throw the ball away instead of ducking the rush and running into his offensive line. I doubt I see any of those things, but I can always dream. We beat Maryland going away, but if we don't start addressing the glaring issues in our offense, the next time we play a team that physically matches up (ie Sammy can't save us by being 3 steps faster than everyone on the team) we are going to struggle again. The next team that meets that criteria is....South Carolina.

I want to see exactly the opposite of what we saw.......

Oct 24, 2013, 10:11 AM

from them against FSU. If we do, that means we will pound Maryland.

and B.C....and N.C. State, and well

Oct 24, 2013, 10:12 AM

pretty much every game other than the first half of the Syracuse game where they forgot to cover our receivers and the Georgia game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Please rewatch the FSU game

Oct 24, 2013, 10:17 AM

We didn't have a 3 and out the entire game. We had 26 first downs. The only thing we need to change is turning the ball over. If we are not turning the ball over we will magically go back to what we watched against Syracuse and Wake Forest.

Are your serious...like for real serious?

Oct 24, 2013, 10:21 AM

1. I refuse to watch that monstrosity again

2. We managed to score 7 points that they actually cared about.

The game was almost over

Oct 24, 2013, 10:37 AM

before the teams came out for the second half. There is no way to know what happens if we don't turn it over those first 2 times but even if we don't score and punt to them on both possessions the feel of the game changes entirely.
Our heads were spinning on offense after the 3rd drive and our defense didn't even have time to get a drink of water yet.
Once a game is out of hand the actual talent is not reflected very well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Granted. But that doesn't speak well of the mental

toughness of The Tiger team.

Nor do the 2 punts...err passes Tajh threw

Oct 24, 2013, 10:42 AM

Those were just terrible, forced passes to the wrong part of the field. At least throw the ball over the WR outside shoulder and give him a chance, low and inside is always going to get picked.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This is my argument that you didn't like

Oct 24, 2013, 10:45 AM

the issue is turnovers. Everything else will be fixed if we fix the turnovers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes but that is a different discussion

Oct 24, 2013, 10:44 AM [ in reply to Granted. But that doesn't speak well of the mental ]

I know as a fan I had a major letdown in the 2nd half. I know the players are supposed to play their butts off the entire game no matter what, but a player's ability when they have a chance and some adrenaline is much greater than a player's ability when they know it's over. Even if they are trying their hardest they aren't going to be the same player.

Touchdowns in any form or fashion.

Run It Down There Throats ----

Oct 24, 2013, 10:33 AM

Its time for the O-line and the running backs
to cut loose. Its time to give opponents much,
much more to think about on what to defend.

Its time to run the ball with POWER and AUTHORITY
as well as its time to run the ball with juking,
speed and spinning.

Its time for the O-line to man Sooooo much up and
impose their will on the line of scrimmage.

Lets go Tigers...DOMINATE MARYLAND....one last time
before they run to the B1G 10.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, a team that is designed to throw the ball

Oct 24, 2013, 10:36 AM

with small running backs and a C, LG, and Tackle under 300 pounds should line up and run it down their throats....or maybe we should just do what we do, except this time, actually do it correctly, which is spread the field, spread the ball around, open running lanes because they don't have 7 or 8 in the box, and put up points.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yes, a team that is designed to throw the ball

Oct 24, 2013, 10:41 AM

Yes exactly...got to start somewhere. I bet you
the first defensive look for Maryland is going to be
to glue themselves to our receivers. That means the
run is there until they want to jump that...then you
know somebody is open receiver-wise...then you mix it
up. Darrell Smith should be able to power out 5yds.
himself.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd like to see

Oct 24, 2013, 10:24 AM

the O get in the red zone and be able to score other than on tajh-runs, where are all the T.E's? I'd also like to see 3rd downs be 3rd and shorts, the long third down has killed the offense all year. What I am really curious to see is if the offense does continue to sputter what do the coaches do. If they continue to sputter along and no changes are made i.e. personnel, then there are some serious concerns in the coaching hierarchy and in whats going on behind the scenes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would likie to see the type of playcall sequencing we saw

Oct 24, 2013, 10:34 AM

in our last game, BY FLORIDA STATE. Now that was some playcalling.

Had us on the ropes, despite a good effort by our D early on.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Completely Agree. Arguing that turnovers is the only issue

Oct 24, 2013, 12:19 PM

is living in a state of denial. The offense has struggled with consistency nearly all season. I think establishing a second receiver early and spreading the ball in the running game to the two main backs would be two areas to address consistency.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I feel ya Brah, I feel ya

Oct 24, 2013, 12:35 PM

After the Georgia game, we have been inconsistent at best. Sometimes I look at the box score at the end of the game and think, really, we put up all those yards, weird, we played like crap for 2 1/2 quarters. My Clemson gameplan would be to triple Sammy and make Tajh throw it to someone else.
