after reading it for the fourth time it is just as good as the first time. Fitzgerald is hands down one of the best authors of all time.

The Great Gatsby is a fine novel, but most people only know of it because it's a staple of high school english curriculums. Maybe try some of Fitzgerald's other stuff? Tender is the Night, from what I'm told, should not be missed.

If you love Gatsby,I guess you have seen the "74 film with Redford and Mia Farrow? There is a remake, set to open in theatres in May starring Leo DiCaprio (Gatsby),Tobey McQuire( Nick) and Casey Mulligan as Daisy. Probably will be a bit more opulent, more risque than the Redford film, but I can't wait to see it. Have read the book only once, and most movies don't( imo)usually do the book justice, but I do want to compare films. Again opening date is set for May. Enjoy.

About the 1974 version...
Jan 16, 2013, 11:40 AM

... the director really wanted Warren Beatty for the lead, but he wasn't interested. Redford was always lucky that way. They really wanted Steve McQueen to play with Paul Newman in Butch Cassidy, but he wasn't available.

Glad he wasn't interested.Beatty was good, but, imo,he is not Redford. Liked McQueen as well, but Newman without Redford in BC& The SK) would not have been as good.
