Columbo's Pizza

Oct 23, 2015, 11:59 AM

Wasn't Columbo's the place that had such sandwiches as "The Danny Ford" and other Clemson notables? If it is, I used to love going there....they had toasted subs before Quizzno's was even a thing.

So I just went and looked at their menu online, and it's just regular old food. What gives?

You might be thinking of Tiger Town Tavern. They used to have something like that, but don't think they call them the special names any more.

Oct 23, 2015, 12:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Columbo's Pizza ]

Yep The Cavalier was my usual

They need to add the 10 other schools that have joined the ACC to the menu.

Also, switch the Philly Cheese to Pittsburgh just to tick them off.

Triple T's....they do, and they do ??

So, yes is the answer. They have pretty creative signature sammich names...
No Dinnich's!

Don't know about the food names, but I normally just ordered pizza. Deep dish for dine in and Atlas for basketball camp outs or other social gatherings.

They had a ginormous pizza too

Oct 23, 2015, 12:13 PM

I remember going there in the mid 90s. It was pretty good

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They just had regular food back when I was a student.

No, Columbos is awesome pizza. and a few sammiches. Their odd "thing" was called the Atlas and was a giant pizza that wouldn't fit through a doorway.
You're thinking of TD's does that with naming.
I think Beezers used to - was a sammich shop in the middle of downtown. I always thought it was garbage though.

I think TTT might even do that with naming now too.

Beezer's sucked, until it was 2:00am***

There's something in these hills.

Are you thinking of Chanelo's?

Oct 23, 2015, 1:05 PM

they ruled when I was at CU. huge square Party Pizzas plus toasted subs named for coaches, etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

this is correct-- Chanelos = toasted subs including the DF

Oct 23, 2015, 2:59 PM

and pizzas; Columbos = ginormous pizza and calzones. Chanelos unfortunately closed-- mid/late 90's?

Re: this is correct-- Chanelos = toasted subs including the DF

Columbos = still some of the best pizza I've ever had. Anywhere. Ever.

Sad to see Chanelos gone..... remember eating there plenty in the late 70's and '80s..... remember when I was just a kid... those square pizza slices, and orange carpet on the wall in part of the place....
