Moments of brilliance interrupted by long stretches of mediocrity.

Surely you're not talking about Tech's transfer QB.

Or their 13 or 14 other recent transfers in.

The shoe fits both ladies who came to the dance.

In my view Dabo is correct in that programs risk sacrificing consistency with excessive use of the portal.

This is dumb. FSU is way better since using the TP than before. Sure they use it too much, but it still has helped them. They lost to a team that used it more appropriately. But perhaps you’re right and the transfer portal is a path to failure. In which case lucky for us since we’re the only team not using it. Can’t we expect to dominate CFB any day now?

I think excessive use is a path to inconsistency with a few highs here and there….save the 4-5 DaddyWarbucksU’s.

though it comes without graduating players, fathers, providers, and future leaders.

I can’t believe it’s that high.

College life is a big change form high school life

When you’re at home most people have their parents that are keeping an eye on the students and their progress.

One you get to college, the “freedom” to do what you want to when you want to can adversely impact class performance. Add to that the difficulty of the material and the pace of the classes, it’s easy to fall behind quickly and then have to play catch up.

IMO the most important influential factors for this are discipline and time management.

In the case of the Clemson football team, Dabo has taken the burden of those two factors upon the program itself. Everything is so structured … practice, meals, rest, classes and study time (including tutors) and leisure time that the players don’t have an option to “goof off” unless they try really hard.

For me, I breezed through high school with good grades but when I got to Clemson many years ago, my time management was not as good as it should have been. Add in the demands of playing a sport, and I found myself scrambling to get back on track. On top of that my parents lived in a different continent and the isolation and difference in life style played a part.

Thankfully I developed those skills and still graduated in 4 years, but it took a concerted effort to do so. On a positive note, when I was working, had a family, and earned an MBA, that skill set was front and center.

So many kids are not prepared for the rigors of college and it helps to have resources to keep kids on track. If you’re a student and are having trouble, seek out the resources that your university offers so that you can get to the finish line on time and help push up that 62%. Good luck!!

How can only 77% graduate at UNC when they require no classes or school work for football players?

All the credit in the world to GT's new defensive coordinator. They brought most of their offense back, but their defense was terrible at stopping the run last year. Last night, they played almost mistake-free, not a single missed tackle after a shaky start in FSU's first drive. And looking at their players, every day must have been leg day, these guys look like they worked in the off-season. This is a good team, so is FSU, but GT did not walk in there expecting to win, they knew they had to earn it.
