college football games of interest today...

Oct 4, 2014, 11:19 AM

There's potential out there today for a lot of shake up. BYU lost last night, which is a plus for the Power 5 teams, and also could help Clemson get back into top 25.

Other games day worth paying attention to:

6 TAMU at. 12 Miss St.- 12:00 ESPN
If you're anti SEC, then pull for MSU. I think MSU will lose at least 2 more this year, regardless of this one.

20 Ohio St. at UMD - 12:00 ABC
A UMD win here helps Clemson get back into the polls. Plus, I hate Ohio St.

ISU at 21 OKST - 12:00 Fox Sports 1
OKST is known for dropping a game like this. Not likely today, but another one that would benefit the Tigers.

Va Tech at UNC - 12:30 ESPN 3
Go Heels

Alabama at Ole Miss - 3:30 CBS
Again, I think Ole Miss loses again regardless, so I'm pulling for the Rebels.

4 OU at 25 TCU - 3:30 FOX
OU may be the best team in the country. They don't get the press of the SEC, but they are that good. They have the best kept secret in a reciever named Sterling Sheperd. Keep an eye on him, because he's the real deal. An OU win helps the Tigers move up... but they need to be careful with this one... could be a trap game.

7 Baylor at Texas - 3:30 ABC
Blowout, right? Probably... but I'm not so sure. This feels like one of those games that could stun the country. Probably a laugher... but keep an eye on this one.

14 Stanford at 9 ND - 3:30 NBC
I think Stanford gets it done on the road. All Power 5 teams with an outside shot at the playoffs are pulling for the Cards too.

17 Wisconsin at Northwestern - 3:30 ESPN2
Another game that would help the Tigers. Don't be surprised if NW is right there in the end with a chance to win.

15 LSU at 5 AU - 7:00 ESPN
I think this is going to be a really good game. An LSU win means more chaos in the SEC West. An AU win means LSU is done for the year, IMO.

TT at 23 Kansas State - 7:00 ESPNU
Another game that could help Clemson move up.

Arizona St. at 16 USC - 7:30 FOX
Danerous game for Troy, and would drop them out of top 25 if they lose.

Miami at GT - 7:30 ESPN2
Winner stays atop the coastal, and a GT win probably gets them ranked.

Pitt at UVA - 7:30 ESPN3
Again, winner stays atop the coastal.

UCS at UK - 7:30 SECN
The Lubricator Bowl could get rough for the C0cks.

19 Nebraska at 10 MSU - 8:00 ABC
Very important game. Winner is the last hope for Big 10 in playoffs, however small it may be.

Utah at 8 UCLA - 10:30 ESPN
Bruins need to be careful. Utah is capable of winning this game.

I don't see TAMU/MSU changing anything

Oct 4, 2014, 12:13 PM

If TAMU wins, they're cemented into Top 5 most likely. MSU wins, they'll flip positions.

Maybe there's a longer-term change if MSU wins and then loses again, but I don't see these pollsters doing anything but a balancing act.

I feel similarly with LSU and AU, but I think AU actually has a good team(one that's complete, anyway)

Clemson

Really, I don't see any team making it through the SEC W gauntlet undefeated. Best chance is BAMA but they still have AM and AUB at home and on the road to LSU.
