Swinney says Tigers got better on National Signing Day
A team that played for the National Championship just a few weeks ago got better Wednesday. Clemson reeled in what should be another Top 10 recruiting class with the addition of 16 players on National Signing Day. The Tigers already had seven mid-year enrollees on campus, and head coach Dabo Swinney smiled when he told the media about the Tigers’ success on the recruiting trail. Full Story » |

Didn't know Jordan Sorrells worked with Thad Turnipseed. Great high school player, watched him absolutely light up the North Carolina squad and all its vaunted 4-star SEC-commit QB's in the Shrine Bowl about ten years back. NC squad had guys like Joe Cox (UGA) and Jonathan Crompton (UT), but they also had no answer for the little guy from Greenville HS who I think wound up at Furman or some such, and the Sandlappers laid waste that year. Whatever, the guy had game.
Interesting Sorrells wound up working for "Clemson Google", as Dabo phrases it. Guy obviously had a football IQ that was off the charts, a little more arm and a little more size and he would have been an NFL guy.
Wonder if he might wind up a coach someday. His dad was certainly a very good one.

We got what we needed. Gary would have been a nice cherry on top, but we got some incredible players coming to town shortly. Another stellar year for the staff on the recruiting trail.

I am no recruiting genius, but I have never so quickly gotten over losing the number 1 recruit in the nation. We are stacked in the middle for some years to come!!

Landing the No. 1 recruit is nothing but a momentary media coup - we got the whole team! However, we did get the No. 2 rated DL in the Nation with Dexter Lawrence - who, interestingly enough, is the No. 2 rated prospect in the Nation on at least one board. Yes, we're stacked. No regrets here.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!! Grrrrrr-eat job!!!
