One would think you'd wait tip one saw evidence of said change before switching out of a defense that had held them in check the entire game. I mean it only takes one play to take out a LB and replace with a DB, but apparently our braintrust finds such moves to be irrevocable.

yes, the defense is mismanaged. Time to take the porkchop off the table and put in some fresh meat.

Oh lord! I cannot believe the incompetence of this coaching staff. So we never thought to put Sammy back in, when all Sellers did was run? Come on!

It is over thinking. Best players need to on the field.

Not necessarily what the coaches think might happen prior to it happening. In this case Goodwin and Co decided to defend SCs weakness ( the passing game) vs their strength (the running game). A more logical approach would be to let them adjust their game plan when you are winning the match up against them. It is baffling to think arrogance it takes for coaches to pre-adjust personnel packages based on fathom intuition.

That's what we get when our 'coaches" get to thinking!

I don't know why this staff is obsessed with getting cute. You are not playing 4d chess, you are blowing games repeatedly.
Sammy Brown is a freak and should be on the field at all times. Grow a sack and bench one of the upper classmen in two backer looks.

The one thing i knew we'd miss when Coach V left was in game adjustments

That was never a worry. And I didnt'expect whoever took over that position to fill those shoes to that level. But it stinks to lose games b/c we don't adjust. We also don't adjust very well at all on the offensive end either.I feell like our 3rd qtr offense is always sluggish b/c we can't adjust quickly to the opposing teams defensive adjustments at the half.

The second half against Jawja was a classic example of the entire team- coaches and players- not being able to adjust. And they got blown out.

Dabo has never been an x and o’s guy. Eventually when you don’t understand scheme, you make a bad hire.
Dabo used to be the closer. One of the best recruiters in the game. He’s no longer bring that to the table, not because of lack of ability, but desire not to compete in the new world.

Not an attack on the personally, he is, I'm sure, a very good guy, but Wes Goodwin has displayed time and time again over the past few seasons that he is in over his head. The guy is just guessing, and when you just blindly roll the dice, sure you get lucky sometimes, but overall gambling has but one end and it's never good. Our defense has steadily declined each year under his leadership, and will continue to if we don't make a change. Our talent is there, our kids, our players, our University deserves better. Go get us the best possible guy you can.

From the 11 or 12 personnel they were running earlier
We were not going to have a LB matched up against a slot WR, so we shifted to nickel defense
Should have brought Carter off the field instead of Sammy Brown
But that’s why the coaches did it

That (kinda) makes sense. The article does say they shifted their offense but

not their game plan. So they shifted to a more pass-type looking offense, but then kept running...

Is that real? The misspelled article title makes me

question if it’s real. That and the fact that this coaching decision, if true, would be incredibly stupid.
