They exhibited proper use of PPE - I see nothing wrong here. In fact, this could be utilized as training material.

My Marines always tried to have some fun regardless of the situation. Here are two of my men playing golf with a round rock, a stick, and a C rations can for the cup, on top of a mountain overlooking Elephant Valley (favorite VC and NVA route into the Danang area).

We once had a football when we had a few days of “stand down “ at Duc Pho- I had aspirations of returning to Clemson as a Renfroe type WR.

It is astonishing to think we were better trained for service or a career in the Army than any of the other schools ROTC grads that I encountered in the service and that includes a good % of Pointers as well...seems that many of them saw it as family duty rather than actually wanting that appointment! Knew many from other schools who served who never measured up! We had great instructors and many tidbits of priceless information that made my time a pleasure and rewarding! The end of the Vietnan Era was trying time for many in the military and generally survival and promotion was tricky...I witnessed RIFs that would make an officers stomach turn...worked well for some bad for others!
