ClemsonSCTiger (or any dumper)...I have a challenge/request

Sep 21, 2014, 12:47 PM

Let's have a football discussion. It's VERY easy to sit back after a loss and armchair coach and second guess. I've done it too. But's let's have some football talk about the game.

What did you see called that you woudn't have, and why? What did you see with our gameplan, and how would you have changed it? What did you want to see more of.

Here's the challenge... you can't say "just because". I want to know WHY you would call it, or what you saw FSU doing that would lend credence to your opinion. There can be no "bashing". Let's just talk football.

I'll start:

We saw a completely different screen game last night. We didn't see any (maybe 1) spot screen to the outside. That was something everyone was complaing about against UGA. Last night, we thow a quick tunnel screen to Scott for a big gain. We threw the TE throwback screen, that was WIDE OPEN, had Battle not whiffed, and we threw a delayed RB screen that DW was rushed on, and Gallman couldn't bring it in. It would have gone for big yardage.

FSU hadn't seen any of that, and it was good to see.

Your turn.

How about YOU meat a challenge

...you TD'd so many people for not agreeing with you....so, who is the starter now? Who did the coaches need to be behind? Before you talk anymore, eat crow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you don't know what the hell you're talking about...I never

Sep 21, 2014, 12:50 PM

TD people... look at my ratio...

I NEVER said Cole was better and should be the starter. I said I trusted the coaches.

Produce the post where I said otherwise.

Having fun with you...you barked about the coaches, but you also barked about "why not Cole"....wonder if you could tell everyone you're true feelings now (not about the coaches, about what you saw last night and what you feel the coaches SHOULD have done now knowing Cole is in the backseat where he should have been)...Curious...would you have liked Watson in when the throw to Leggett's feet at the goal line happened?

why don't you go back and check my post history...

I'm quoted as saying... "If it were, I'd probably give DW the ball, to be honest".

but no... you just want to ramble

it's not rambling....it's the point of it...."trust the coaches"....and the coaches learned what mistake last night? Please...say it.

Two yd line just go under center on a quick stap and shove up their a$$

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

some of the 3rd quarter play calling was too conservative

Sep 21, 2014, 12:53 PM

the runs that were within a small box.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not sure you can run wide on FSU... they are probably

Sep 21, 2014, 12:55 PM

the fastest defense, sideline to sideline, in the country. We had success running inside most of the night. I don't think we got outside much, if any.

The inside zone allowed CJ and Adam to find a crease in the cutback several times.

I'm surprised I haven't seen not being able to run from under center. Not sure if that's the solution but short yardage continues to be a problem. I was really hoping we would roll DW out to have a run/pass option on that 4th down.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was expecting the same... although, to be honest...

Sep 21, 2014, 1:12 PM

I thought DW was a little hesitant running the ball at times.

play call, nothing...letting a guy that had been snapping the ball high and making DW jump for tons of play keep playing till it bit you in the ###..I would have changed...go look back at the game prior to that high snap, see if he wasn't snapping high...

I'm not a coach, wouldn't have the job if it was offered; but with regards to the QBs, I think the coaches knew who would eventually be the starter for this team. I think everyone knew who would be the eventual starter for the team. I don't believe they wanted to put a lot of pressure on D.W. right out of the gate, I think they wanted to work him into the job gradually, and I agree with that. I do wish they had given him a little more playing time against ga. That being said; if anything should happen to Watson down the road, I wouldn't feel ill at ease with Stoudt back in.

Truth be told..Cole is a good backup...a really good backup...but nothing more. I think in that one play at the goal line, you can easily see he gets rattled under pressure and his accuracy goes down. Guy wasn't even on him and he throws at Leggett's feet.....instead of getting the play off and let the guy hit you....he's going to anyway.

Could you tell me why you think that?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

strategically it's the knock on most all spreads, yards

Sep 21, 2014, 1:37 PM

between the 20s, failure to launch in the red zone.

year 4 of chad and still searching for an answer.

we had 7 red zone opps, 17 points. we shouldn't be kicking fgs, we need to score tds.

2 of the plays you mentioned have been run, one to seckinger on the goal line against osu. the same gallman play was run against georgia on 3rd and 17.

it's a smash mouth nothing; the spreads are notorious for having to do what clemson has done in short yardage including cole's short arm with heat in his face. if anything cj showed us he could go over the top on 1st at the 1.5 foot line when he went high against scst. i blame the spread as much as anything for the unique failures of 7 & 17. there's plenty out there for you to read up on it and i know you know it exists.

anything else york?

York: Very simple. for a supposed top program not to have a goaL line, short yardage package is beyond ridiculous. Dabo tried to cover it up with some crap about Watson wasn't comfortable with it. Then put in Cole for that play.
I am totally perplexed by the tiger fans who seem to want a nig time winner but show signs of being satisfied with coaching that is at best subpar. Most, not all but most games against quality opponents we get out coached. Yes Chad did try with some success some new things but not having a short yardage package is disgraceful and if you know anything about the sport you'll agree because it is a fact.
I'll continue to go to games this year but unless the coaching improves, I've got better things to do in life. If you think we can beat the Coots with coaching like I saw yesterday, you are living in a dream world. As far as I'm concerned the sooner Morris is gone the better and Dabo had better start taking responsibilities for his errors. Once again Clemson was successful in pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
