Clemson's Five Best Bowl Wins were .....

in this mornings Charleston Post and Courier. We all know what was ranked number one and all five were certainly really good or great wins. But I thought that the victories over Penn State and WVA with Major Harris were tough ones to leave off ; still cant argue too much with the ones that made the top five. ( and certainly cannot argue with the Five Worst ...did not realize there were that many "uglies" out there,,,painful ! )

My list

I didn't get to see the P&C article, but here's my list
1. 1981 Orange Bowl - obviously 2. Chick over LSU - gave the program a shot in the arm with national relevance and a bounce-back from the OB 3. Citrus over Penn State - they were a top-10 program then 4. Gator (or Citrus) over Oklahoma - Switzer's last game 5. Gator over OSU - set the stage for the 80's 6. Gator over West VA - how did that team lose 2 games? Major's Mom still crying. 7. Outback (Hall of Fame) over Illinois. 30-0. Hatfield's crowning achievement at Clemson. Who knew that was the top of a 20-year slide for the program?

1982 Orange Bowl over Nebraska ... well, everybody knows why.
1940 Cotton Bowl over Boston College ... our very first bowl (and first win) and one that put us "on the map" nationally, when we had virtually no reputation previously..
1978 Gator Bowl over Ohio State ... Our first win over a big name opponent in modern history. Also at the time, it was our first bowl win in almost 20 years and one that gained extra notoriety because of "the punch".
1988 Citrus Bowl over Penn State ... a win over one of the most storied programs and coaches in college football history. Also helped erase the bad taste of losing in Columbia that season.
2012 Chic-fil-a Bowl over LSU ... proved we were indeed able to beat a top-tier SEC team and that our offense could score against a great defense.
Honorable mention: 1949 Gator Bowl over Missouri ... capped a perfect season for Clemson. We doubled the attendance from the previous year (16K to over 32K) and saved the Gator Bowl from financial ruin.

Should be Top 5. They were #6, 10-1 going into that game and we owned them from the moment Duane Coleman ##### smacked their All American LB in pregame warmups. The Vols program has never recovered.
