Clemson in the Big Ten

The Big Ten could expand to 20 or more teams.

The top ten teams are in division one. (Call it the “Big Ten”)

The bottom teams are in division two.

At the end of every season the bottom 2 teams from division one are relegated to division two. While the top two teams are promoted to division one.


The conference pay out to division one is 20% higher than the SEC.

The conference pay out for division two is (what is left over) about what the ACC pays out now.


This would put Alabama, UGA, and LSU at a competitive disadvantage and would kick off the next round of realignment.

I wish there were some relegation rules like the big soccer leagues have in place. Might light a fire under some of these underachieving teams that show up for their yearly payout and never win anything.
