The pieces are there. It’s a rough draft. Brand new OC, new QB, fresh DC, building an identity. That’s where I see us. We have the guts to be a great great team and program again. Going through some growing pains.
BUT!!! and there’s always a but, We have to, have to, have to, fill the gaps in depth with the portal. We are recruiting starters well but behind the first string we have too big of a talent gap and that can be closed with the portal.
We Too Deep can only happen in today’s landscape with the portal. And you cannot win at a high level without We Too Deep.

I agree, we are a couple mistakes away from 4-0. I believe we are a great team that makes too many mistakes. We limit those we win both games we lost this season. I don’t think we need the portal as much as people believe but grabbing a few players here and there for depth/experience would be huge

Portal players dont want to be backups typically, thats the only hole in your argument. Grabbing a guy to play as the starter for a year while you have the luxury of bringing a guy you recruited along would be nice though.

We beat FSU yesterday and they had all those great portal players. You realize that right? The portal did not win that game for them and it did not lose that game for us. Our #### poor Coaching lost that game for us!
Did you see how many young players we have mixed in with the upper class starters who are balling out in that game? We have the talent wothout portal players!
So before anyone goes running down the path thinking the portal will save Clemson football, just stop and assess the root problem first. The root problem is the lack of quality, experienced, proven coaches top to bottom.
I get so sick and tired of hearing “portal, portal, portal” as if it is the magic pill when it is not even close to being the issue. God I wish it were that easy. 🙄

Our offensive skill players are inexperienced and learning a new system at the college level. Their mental and physical execution occasionally breaks down due to this inexperience. For the most part, solid coaching has them executing at a fairly high level but the occasional inconsistency leads to game changing mistakes. This needs to improve and with more game experience, it likely will.
