For the few that would actually want Dabo gone...

If you had a magic wish and could bring in any active coach who you think could do a better job instantly, who would it be and why?
The only two that are even in the same tier are Saban and Kirby. Saban is about to retire and we don't want Kirby. So I don't get it. Would love to hear some solutions.

Dabos value system in football cannot co-exist with the FBS game

I know that I will be ridiculed for this opinion and post, but frankly, I’m just sick of the present state of “college football”. And, no, it isn’t just because Clemson is presently 4-4.
The FBS game is a professional pay-2-play market with the SOLE INTENT of prepping qualified NFL players. EVERYONE knows this is true.
The academic aspect of the present game is GONE…COMPLETELY.
Oh yeah, they give out scholarships as players jump in and out of the portal transferring their academic credits from university to university to cobble together a possible degree from the final institution where they have finally exhausted their eligibility.
What are the minimum credits that a university requires a student to take for that university to bestow a degree to a student with the university’s name on the top? What? You think that the university won’t make exceptions for that “student-athlete” due to that “student’s” meritorious service to the university through their contributions to the football program? You bet they will.
Dabo’s values, priorities to players, to Clemson University, are simply 180 degrees out of whack with the present FBS system. I don’t see a single way for a coach like Dabo to live in this professional world of FBS football.
All of this seriously leads me to the conclusion that Clemson should LEAVE the FBS for the FCS. WHAAAAATTTT, you say!!!
NO WAY…NO WAY. Really? Why NOT? Because of MONEY? Is that it? Is MONEY the ONLY REASON? “No”, you say. You want Clemson to be competing at the HIGHEST level of COLLEGE FOOTBALL. COLLEGE football? Please, give us all a break. To play in this game, you better have a minimum of $25M PER YEAR to pay for a TOP 5 (maybe Top 10), player roster. Who’s going to pay for that? Dabo?
What the FBS is today is just what I said…a professional NFL minor league system WITH NO RULES. That’s right, I said it, NO RULES.
The rules are not even what the NCAA (hey, I said NCAA, that’s funny) claim are rules. Like their rules about how each NCAA schools concession stands must separate their presentation of soft drinks on the left and hot dogs on the right.
What about the COST of the facilities you say? “Clemson has spent so much money on facilities. They have to find a way to pay it off.”
A move DOWN to the FCS would still leave enough money to service the facilities debt. The final outcome would be that there will be very limited future expansion of facilities costs at the FCS level. And I for one, am quite content with that.
Would the smaller athletic budget limit the other athletic programs? Sure it would, but those other programs are always subsidized by football in the FBS. The FCS teams make it work, so it will be fine.
Plus, the BEAUTIFUL, OPEN, GREEN FIELDS of LEAVING the ACC for ANY OTHER destination is a GLORIOUS GOAL, no matter where that destination would be.
Let Clemson get back to a pure, student-athlete form of the game at the FCS level. Leave this professional league fight to wolves that started it in the first place.

Folks like that got Phil Fulmer fired. After they got their wish and UT went down the tubes for 20 years they had nothing to say even though they spoke like they had all the answers and a foolproof solution.

reasons. Dabo will do what it takes to get us back. He is human but wants to win and be successful. People say that those that transfer were never really Tigers, then they don't back the players and coaches when things are not good.
Too bad "fans" cannot hit the portal.

“Tough spell?”
This isn’t about just this season. The decline the last three years has been real and this year the train ran off the tracks.
I absolutely don’t want Dabo fired.
But this is all because of him and his dumb, arrogant decisions with coaching hires, talent assessment, scholarship decisions, etc.
He deserves all the criticism that comes his way.
Now, will he do something about it? He created the mess, so he can fix most of it. But I’m not sure he will. He seems like he’s in denial about what’s going on by saying a few plays away, etc.

Yes but that was because Max Lennon hated Danny. And Coach Ford gave him the ammo he needed to make the firing happen.

to get back to a national powerhouse. Likely not the first coach we hire would get us there. If Dabo leaves, it will be a long process but if he can't fix the issues then you might as well get the process started. See Bobby Bowden and FSU. Neither option will be fun.
I wonder what national brand would want to pay Dabo 10+ million. I wouldn't gamble on him at this point and I like him.

Saban's rant was spot on

1)Media is always going to create it (rat poison) 2)everytime a team losses two games, everyone says they are done. But it really makes them dangerous. 3)We are going to get everone's best game, I don't know why everyone doesn't understand that. 4)When I came here everyone was happy to win a game. Now we are not happy to win a game. I don't think that is fair to the players. they are not perfect, they are college students, give me a break

the ship immediately after this season. When an instituion underperforms, as we have , based on where we were, the leader has to take actions. Since nothing he has tried in season has worked at all , it is time to let some people go. A lot of people actually. The rub is Dabo will not acknowledge any of this right now. I don;t blame him, you typically don;t talk about firing someone before you actually do it with the media and others. If he doesn;t make any changes after the season, then I think you see a groundswell against Dabo as no one could possibly expect a different result with what we have in place now.
