In my opinion the top prospects will be bought for much more money than Clemson will either pay or be able to pay. The big money schools will own the top prospects therefore keeping us out of that. These top portal prospects go to the portal because they already have starting jobs for the?. The Pitt WR went to USC I’m sure for a big payday. Clemson will have to rely on the HS recruits.

I think that's pretty much true for the most part. Some who have performed well at lower tier schools may want only to do the same at a school with a higher reputation but for those looking for the $$ I suspect they'll find more an other places than Clemson...

I don't think Clemson is ready yet to start paying enough to get big names through the portal. Hopefully someday but it will take some time to change the old school mindset and accept the way things are.
