What I don't get is: why did anyone expect to beat SCAR?
Dec 2, 2013, 12:13 PM
|

Our team, top to bottom, is not that good. We have some superstars. Boyd and Watkins are as good as it gets. But that's it. A few superstars doesn't make a good football team.
As much as I hate the OBS, he's put together a team that is strong in each area. Not excellent, and not superstars, but strong. Our squad, on the other hand, has glaring weaknesses in some places, and is just average in other places. Then we have a few superstars at WR and QB.
The only other team we faced this year that didn't have a glaring weakness was FSU, and we saw how that turned out.
When are we going to learn that it takes an entire team, not just excellent skill players on offense?

when we laid a giant egg yet again on Saturday? Better teams don't make critical mistakes over and over again to lose games and we did.

The original post said we don't have as much talent

I disagree with that - I think we're on par talent-wise with the Gamecocks. We've made huge improvements in the OL and DL in that regard - the past few years they were dominant in the trenches, but not so Saturday night. What killed us Saturday were self-inflicted mistakes; otherwise it was anybody's game.

Are you talking about Shaw's runs, or Hot Rod's?
Dec 2, 2013, 1:14 PM

Both teams had great success running the ball on 3rd down. But you can't argue that we didn't completely control their running game otherwise.
I couldn't figure out why we never kept a spy back to deter Shaw from those scrambles. Our DLine was constantly pushing into the backfield, but that left a gap for Shaw to step into and run.

the best team on the field lost by 14 points? Don't give me the "if we didn't turn the ball over," etc. because the best teams don't do that and have all the Ifs. Clemson may have a better team if they were to play again, but you can't say that they were the better team on Sat.

UGA beat them
vandy came within 10
UCF came within 3
UK came within 7
UT beat them
a HORRID Florida team came within 5
They are and were the better team, but this USC team was NOT.............WAS NOT the unbeatable force many clemson fans like to tell themselves to make them feel better about losing to them.

And probably last year and the year before, too. How you can look at this team and think we didn't match up well with South Carolina is beyond me, unless you're the kind of Clemson fan who always thinks we're awful... which you apparently are.

My opinion:
Position Advantage DB SCAR LB SCAR DL SCAR OL SCAR RB push WR Clemson QB Clemson
So, no, we weren't the better team this year. Not to mention the scoreboard.

QB is USC
Dec 2, 2013, 12:31 PM

We saw that on the field. Shaw made plays to win.
Boyd had 3 turnovers late.
RB is USC. Our game plan was to stop Davis...we did but that should not have been our sole concern.

This is the kind of thinking that will get loss #6 because we can infer by your comment that all is good except for the turnovers. Talent is fine, etc.
People were saying the same thing last year..."the better team lost".
Will SCAR ever have a team that's good enough to beat Dabo? Man, it must suck to be a SCAR fan with such an inferior team.

hahahahahah. So in other word5, tell me at what point in the game did you have a lead? Don't you think 5C was running a ball control offense milking the clock? Do you really think 5purrier opened up the playbook 5aturday? The better team won 5aturday and the better team won the 4 before that.
