I remember Frank Howard's final years, and we had to beat Maryland in the pouring rain to keep from being in the cellar of the ACC with a single ACC win between us. I don't think we won 3 games that year, and we lost a bunch.
But the plays were more simple: Gore to the left, Gore to the right, Gore up the middle, punt. Football was a very simple game in those days, and even your date could understand the plays.

we went 2-9 my senior year and if I remember correctly 2-8-1 the following year. It was not a happy time in Death Valley.

Tommy West's final year at Clemson. We beat MD, USC, and and FCS team. God that ex bad. Yet somehow Tommy West got another head coaching job.
I see the Boom doing the same thing. If you can't win at UF, you're not going to win at USC especially with Clemson clicking on all cylinders.
