My freshman year of college. We won the National Championship my senior year.

Alabama has bigger linebackers than our defensive linemen. Think Big Dex would have been a dominant player?

It's pretty shocking at first glance, but it's all relative.

Most squads in that era had what would be considered vastly undersized players today. Ben Boulware could have started at DT in 1978.

When William Perry got to campus, he was considered an absolute freak of nature and now we have several guys on the team that are as big or bigger than Perry was as a freshman.

Looking over the height weight of players during Perrys time, he was about 50 lbs bigger than other linemen. He was a freak.

Dexter Lawrence would be considered a top 3 player in NFL history and a HOF lock.

Wouldn't call that likely right now but the Hall of Fame isn't off the table

Heights haven't changed much. Boulware would be 2-6 inches shorter than the 78 linemen. Lawrence is huge but no taller than Stuckey.

Yep ... overall the heights haven't increased all that much but the weight differential is shocking. It's hard not to notice that Steve Gibbs and Jonathon Brooks or two starting DE's in 1978 (at 6'3" and about 210-215 lbs) would probably have both been playing Safety today.
