Chaos Reigns at ESPN

ESPN made Pat McAfee dump Aaron Rodgers as a guest for the rest of football season and now they just took his show off air today after Bill Belichick retired. Guy has a football show and they aren’t letting him air after Saban & Belichick retire? ESPN also “had” plans to take him off game day …. Until …..Herbstreit said he would quit if they remove Pat from GameDay.

If Pat McAfee had a brain he would have never taken the deal to join ESPN. ESPN made it clear that Pat McAfee would have COMPLETE control of his show with no outside interference and they have gone back on their word because of that clown Jimmy Kimmel
I truly believe that Pat staying at ESPN is only going to cause him to shed supporters as they see he is being managed like a puppet

Yeah--ESPN sucks. That's why McAfee made the deal. He clearly thinks

ESPN can't help his brand or help him make any money at all.
What he's discovering is that having a dumb show on a network is more hassle than having a dumb show on YouTube, where standards are lower and he's only accountable to his dumb fans.
He's a clown, and plenty of clowns have done just fine on YouTube...so I agree with your larger point.
But if he didn't think he "needed" ESPN in some form or fashion, he wouldn't have made the deal with them. That's simple math.

"Think about it this way. McAfee went from being on YouTube, where you have to go out of your way to find his show, to being on ESPN, a cable channel in over 70 million households in the United States alone, including virtually every bar and hotel.
ESPN has also been promoting McAfee’s content to their 100 million-plus followers on social media. McAfee’s contract includes a weekly spot on College Gameday, viewed by an average of 2 million people. They also routinely build him a custom set to host his weekly show at college campuses nationwide, and McAfee recently hosted alternate telecasts on ESPN2 for the Rose Bowl and National Championship game."
Nope--doesn't need him at all.

But I've heard him on podcasts and shows like McAfees and he is incredibly articulate and smart. He has some great insights and impressive how he has questioned the status quo and it's not just a one off 'the world is flat's type of thing.
He's a good guy in my book.

Now what relationship could ESPN execs and Jimmy Kimmel possibly have that would warrant this sort of wagon circling? The rabbit hole is deep and ugly.

McAfee is pretty much a free agent guy similar to Joe Rogan and Clay Travis. You love him or you hate them but their brands are bigger than the networks who pay them.
Sure they might more at one place than the other but they. Could all do whatever they wanted and still make millions. And credit to each one, they have all worked very hard to create, establish and grow their brands.

One thing is for sure I’m not part of the 2 million nor 100 million. Don’t watch esecpn unless it is Clemson related. Other than that it’s never on in my house. Quit watching that crap station a long time ago.

radio style.
ESPN shows countless games from various college sports and often do it well despite the complaints we may have about their perceived bias.
I imagine most people here watch games on ESPN way more than they watch anything McAfee related
