If your are a coach on the other sideline and the other team keeps using the same sign over and over again for the same play or series of plays why wouldn't you scream at your defense "screen" or "draw" or whatever you think the play is going to be. Do what they did in the past send a guy in with the play.
If you want to go hurry up then you need to make signs. And so what if a team hires an assistant coach to review all the game film prior to the "big game" so that they have a good idea as to what the team is going to run. Teams spend hours of time watching film of the other team running plays of previous games. They have a really good idea of what plays they can run out of each formation. Don't get it.
I think everyone should be able to film the other team and their signs and have at it.

Yeah it’s not that big a deal, I grant you. My point is this conflates what Michigan did (illegally taping or filming) with what every other team, including Clemson, tries to do-steal signals in the game. Clemson isn’t mentioned once in the article, but Joe blow doesn’t read articles; he skims headlines.

the point is to disguise your signs isn't it? If you make it an emphasis to disguise them then it won't be easy to steal them. I do think its bush league to make a point to prepare to steal signs but at the end of the day its up to you and your team to disguise your calls.
If i yell to the pitcher "LETS THROW CURVE BALL HERE"..am i to expect the batter won't be sitting on a curve ball? Stop being lazy coaches, and update your signs.
