And I remember, as a kid, wishing every year that we could have a serious contender for that trophy. Kenny Flowers (34 years ago) comes to mind.
But it really just doesn’t mean that much anymore.

No the DW thing was just the capper. One of many- the guy who quit football right after that from Okla is one. It was also bad during the year when any starting tailback for So Cal was automatically an odd on candidate

I thought it was Dabo that said DW4 didn’t miss out on the Heisman, the Heisman missed out on having a lifelong connection to a guy with DW4’s character and class (or something close to that).

thrilled to win it so I hope one of them does. Also, one less feather in SC’s cap of having a Heisman winner when we never have (again, as if that matters). So I hope they win it but the Heisman process has become a complete farce like so many things ESPN takes control of.
