You have an entire internet at your fingertips.

You could use it to un-ignorant yourself. For starters, 20% of the petroleum consumed in the US comes from Canada. And wish as hard as you can, but the US does NOT have the refining capacity to meet US demand, and refined petroleum MUST be imported from somewhere.

And don't forget around 20% of the produce consumed in the US comes from Canada. Try reading labels occasionally, you might be surprised at how much imported product you actually consume.

Well for starters, oil production is US is open again - We will be a net exporter

And agricultural imports aren't even close

The US produced more oil than it ever has in history under Biden,

and more federal exploration and drilling contracts were approved under Biden than Trump. The US was a net exporter for Biden's entire Presidency.

You really think US producers are going to pull MORE oil out of the ground and crash the market? Lulz.

US oil producers have already announced that they will not be increasing the supply of oil.

I promise you, NO ONE will like the US situation if gas is < $1.50 a gallon

Our own oil is only profitable at a certain price point, same with OPEC, at a lower price point. After that, it becomes a loss, and oil companies will stop drilling. If oil goes lower with too much supply, jobs are being lost. In oil, and elsewhere.

We can literally drill ourselves into being broke.

Trump is obviously counting on his base being too stupid to understand this.

He has successfully been banking on the stupidity of others for decades.

Most of us are smart enough to do the same, but we choose not to lead a life like his.

You need to look at both sides. What percent of Canadian consumption comes from US?

sure - let's see

Trump won in Nov we better say something in Dec

Trump is making sure it gets done

Weird how border security wasn't a priority for them with Bidan in office

You want to know why?

Because the Canadian/US border is already very, very secure.

2. Canada has always had a stout border, especially relative to our southern border

3. Fentanyl isn't coming from Canada, this was impressively dumb

4. Trump appears to be a mostly clueless "negotiator", but by all means, keep defending everything he does as if he's playing 5D chess that the rest of us wouldn't understand.

Probably more fentanyl enters Canada from the US than the other way around.

A lot of cocaine goes the other way. Some marijuana comes from Canada. When fentanyl production moves from Mexico to west virginia and kentucky, some might go the other way, but Canadians generally aren't as hooked on the opioids as Americans. Their doctors were a lot more ethical.

The "concessions" they made were already announced back in December, before Trump was even in office.

There was no problem with their border generally. It's a non issue and doesn't equate to starting a trade war.
