Went from literally non existent to top 10 each year since it’s inception?
I’ve followed along loosely with W/Ls, but know nothing of SC softball or our program really.

I’ve noticed the softball head coach doesn’t make a lot of excuses, he just gets the job done.

John Rittman is one of the best softball coaches in the country. He got shafted at Stanford because of California nonsense! But their loss was Clemson‘s gain!
Some other key factors are the Clemson brand. Softball and baseball being huge in the south. Second only to football. The ACC being a premier league in Olympic and especially women’s athletics. The demographics moving south. Honestly a lot of things lined up and the timing was just right. The right people in the right place at the right time type of thing.

You hit it! The administration pulled all the right strings starting this program. The alignment was perfect. Tell you the truth, I do not know what took them so long to figure out softball could be an ultra successful program at Clemson. Kudos to the fans that make McWhorter a great home field advantage!!

I will admit I don't follow softball because I had no children or grandchildren who have played but I have watched a little of the World Series games. Softball is all about pitching and we got a couple of really good pitchers from the beginning to go go along with a couple of strong hitters. I could be wrong but I think it is easier to have a competitive team with just a few good players that it is in baseball, basketball or football because the competition is not as good.

A homerun coaching hire and great recruiting... my daughter played for 12 years so I have always loved the game and so glad we finally have a team. Softball is huge in our state and Clemson did well to finally join the market.

No sport can be successful without a band.
More seriously, we lucked out with an All American pitcher coming in and performing as a freshman plus transfers with no requirement to sit out and a really good coach.
Rittman is a nationally renowned coach and we are lucky to have him.
Softball and baseball are half pitching and in softball you can ride one arm all season.
but unless our hitting has improved, we are going to struggle with the elite programs.
There is a wide divide between the top 4 programs in the country and the rest of the top 25.

Most have touched on it but Coach Rittman if GOOD! Started with a great inaugural pool of talent and has just added to it. Right now Clemson has a team that is a great mix of talented Veterans and new blood. And these gals hustle!

Coach Rittman is great but I don’t think Kyle Jamieson gets enough credit. If you know what he did at Furman, you know he can coach and has a track record for finding good pitching. I’m pretty confident he identified Cagle and was a big reason in her coming to Clemson. Coach Rittman did a good days work when he hired Jamieson. Together they are a very good combo.
Cagle is a stud no doubt. Clark in CF is also a stud. This is probably our best team on paper. The 3 transfer starters are all very good and this is likely our best defensive team yet. Good pitching, good defense and a good hitting team is a pretty lethal combo.
