Can someone just clear up what the time management strategy was?

Im seriously wondering why we were intentionally running clock at start of 4th quarter before blocked FG
To be clear…
I am 100% absolutely certain it was not because we’d given up, or had no plan.
I don’t need to sit here and explain that our coaches know there should’ve been urgency down 3 TDs with one quarter left.
That is a given. Any football coach knows that.
So like what?
It wasn’t just a normal offense of snapping it at a medium consistency or anything. It’s like we were trying to waste clock.
I’m just baffled by that one part

Because they had admitted defeat and given up. No other reason you’d do that if it wasn’t the case.

I think we were just sleepy. Maybe we really do need to just play Nooners?

We just never seem prepared…little situational awareness. Although the odds would have still been against us…the announcers were confused why we didn’t go for two to make it an 11 point margin. That actually did come back to haunt us. Assuming we could have actually kept them from blocking it…we could have kicked the field goal on that last drive with a decent amount of time left on the clock…then onside kick with a chance to recover and tie. Long odds I know…but going for two was the better decision.

I agree.
Our lack of sane clock management looked as if our players and coaches never practice that aspect of the game. Stunningly bad. Glaring.

I think at that point in the game we might’ve been just really focused on calling the right play.
But in reality, going faster and being more risky maybe could’ve saved us

And at some point, when you get far enough behind and late enough in the game, you have no choice but to take risks in an attempt to give yourself a chance. That's what was baffling to me. The coaches continued playing it safe as though they were unaware that there was no way they could tie the game at that point without taking some shots and moving quickly.

How the he** do you explain that?😂
Like we have 5-stars in all receiver positions. Literally throw the da** ball to the end zone
That was the worst coached game by Dabo in his career.
Worse than the Georgia game. Worse than even the Jameis Winston embarrassment. Worse than West Virginia.
This totally changes my outlook on Dabo to be honest. He got completely out coached by a mid-tier coach and program.

It's a little more complex than just "throw the d** ball to the end zone". That 2 high safety will deplete your passing game if you're irresponsible about it. Plays that put receivers in holes in that zone coverage should have been called...high end curls out of the slot...TEs finding pockets to sit in...instead they were calling long developing plays and the OL, Tristan Leigh in particular, could not hold up against a very experienced LV pass rush. It's quite that simple.

I was wondering about that one myself watching it in person. You figure, at that point in the game, as you said, it's a long shot anyways, so why not go for 2 so as to cut the lead to 11. That way, as you pointed out, one touchdown, a 2-point conversion, and a field goal would've tied the game (assuming Louisville didn't score again). I know people don't like "chasing points", but at that point in the game, is the difference between a 12 and a 13 point deficit really helpful at all? You've gotta score 2 quick touchdowns either way. It just didn't make sense.

Wth is anyone talking about... Yes you chase the points. I's everyone that dumb?
It makes zero sense to kick extra point. None. Unless you are praying God let's you win. Any coach in any situation goes for two.
Dabo is to blame for that and the 4th down hand-off to mafah after 3mafah runs... One where he clearly ran out of bounds and didn't put his head down.
So many bad bad coaching plays. They all need a timeout. Did we hit at all over 2 weeks?

Our tigers had no plan. Frankly, they were lost as to what the situation was from late in the third quarter until the end of the game. Both sides of the ball and coaches were totally blind to the potential that still existed before the third quarter ended.
The much better prepared team and more physical team won this game. Never would have thought that would be the case, but it was tonight.

I just don’t know about that.
You’re telling me every fan in the stadium thought we should go faster and we didn’t?

As someone who was there, basically yes. I'm sure it wasn't literally EVERY fan, but when they were just standing around and making slow substitutions during that first drive in the 4th quarter, the crowd made one of the loudest collective groans of protest I've ever heard throughout what seemed like the whole stadium. It was actually quite incredible. The fans couldn't comprehend what they were watching.

I was there and that’s what I meant, that baffling moment is why I posted about it
I was at the point of laughing because I had no clue what they were doing.
I’m still confused and still don’t have any words for it.
It’s like Dabo was sabotaging the game. The only explanation I could think of

Yes. Louisville’s strategy was to burn up the clock. So that’s what we did. We’re super accommodating like that.

Who knows? There was no sense of urgency from the team last night. I think CDS was playing it safe and thinking we could win it in the third half. 🙄

And that is what we went with. I was scratching my head from that second, knowing that the game was lost

That is part of what Dabo took the blame for in his presser.

Said he was outcoached and did horrible at clock management. I would tend to agree with him.
