How you can have a computer poll without any data for a statistical analysis? Is this poll as worthless as it seems?

Others do it as well. They do it the same way humans do it

You look at what's returning and place values on various things. They are probably more accurate than human preseason polls, although i typically prefer others and don't care for the FPI much.

Think about that. 1/3 of our last 17 games have been played against the 2017 top 5. Thats brutal for a player, but awesome football for a fan.
