We have never won the ACCT. I doubt we ever will as traditionally we get hosed by the refs plus any other short comings with a particular team. Hopefully we play well and see where it goes

Hey look - it’s the cuck who doesn’t think Clemson can be good at basketball but likes to sit in the corner and wait for the loss.

Is “cuck” a personal tack when the person self identifies as one?

I actually agree with Viz and Ridgeland on this one. While I support CBB, to say that we will never win an ACCT is very defeatist.

Look - another Brownell scock using the goalposts trope. You’re either all one dude or you sit together making this crap up. Please point to where he or anyone else set any goalposts for Brad? If “making the tourney” is the goalpost then making the tourney 28% of the time would also be the goalpost. I certainly didn’t sign off on that and don’t think the OP did either. Having a general consensus that making the tournament would prevent him from getting fired is not the same as setting a “goalpost”. Brad is very ill-served by these stupid arguments.

Isn't that kind of the definition of a goal post? It's a goal. That being said, most on TigerNet believed that the minimum goal, i.e. goal post, was making the NCAAT. It wasn't a certain ACC finish, or ACCT wins, or NCAAT wins. It was making the NCAAT, which I also felt was almost necessary to keep his job. Was that Neff's expectation? I think so, but Neff appears to be a smart guy who won't look at solely one metric when evaluating CBB's job.
Now, I agree that moving forward 28% isn't going to cut it. The administration has invested too much money to settle for 28%, so CBB's seat will continue to be warmish from year-to-year.
I ask you, why does the 28% matter if he can continue to win 20+ games and make the NCAAT 50% of the time from this point forward?

I actually typed "I know what your response will be: 'He hasn't done it in 14 years, so what makes you believe it will change?'" I deleted it. I should have kept it.
But, that's not the question. Please answer it. If, moving forward, CBB wins 20+ games and makes the NCAAT roughly 50% of the time for the rest of his tenure, would you keep him?
That should be the easiest answer in the world. It should be a resounding yes. It appears you won't answer it because your bias against CBB is so great, you don't want envision him to succeed. You are more anti-CBB than you are pro-Clemson basketball. I couldn't care less who the coach (outside of Dawn Staley) is if he/she is winning 20+ games a year and making the NCAAT 50% of the time.
I think Clemson basketball should be making the NCAAT more over the next 10 years than they have the previous 10 years (3/10). If CBB can't do it, someone else needs to.

Oh, I'll answer it, easily. If Brownell suddenly changed his stripes, started making the NCAA Tourney AND HAVING SOME SUCCESS THERE every other year, I would love him to death. As can be seen by the comments on the football board, in spite of the MAJOR success of Dabo Swinney, this TNET crowd is VERY much a "what have you done for me lately" bunch. So, after about two revolutions of making / not making the NCAA, if we went one and done both times, the hue and cry would increase for Brownell's head, just as that same noise was around when Purnell was going one and done. We want to see sustained progress, not just rinse and repeat. Hope that answer is satisfactory, it's all I got.
ps, just to clarify, by progress, I mean getting BETTER over time, not just maintaining where you have been.

You’re being very sloppy with your metaphor. The goal posts metaphor demands both an accomplishment and a reward. The reward for a basketball coach for achieving a goal is multifaceted. You’re pretending that there was a consensus as to the goal and reward and that it has changed. That’s not true. While there might have been a consensus that Brad had to make the tourney this year (not me) but no discussion as to what that meant for his ongoing employment beyond not getting fired. He has 2 years left on his contract. He’s already in fairly unusual territory for a P5 coach. Does making the tourney mean he gets to operate under terms of his current contract, does he get an extension that is coupled to a reduced buyout, does he get a short extension with proportional increase in buyout, or is he effectively given a new contract with raises, extension, and large increase in buyout? There was no consensus about these choices. And even with making the tournament some will spark outrage.

I will say that nctigs nailed the record. He predicted 21-10 but thought Clemson would be a first four type team not a lock, so I'll give him that.

Besides Oliver Purnell, his immediate predecessor who coach half as long? Surprised you don’t remember that.
