island tomorrow. Living in a 'hood on the mainland sucks. Can't walk to any bars/restaurants, no where to take the dog for a walk in the afternoon without tempting fate of getting runover by a car, and oddly..no sidewalks. The boat landing is always packed and about 4 miles away. I had kinda forgotten how all you normies live, and its downright depressing.
If a house would come up for rent out there, I'd jump on it. I should have jumped on that cheap one at the end of the street in January but I was under the impression I had a new house I was moving into. I ended up living in a roach infested chithole anyway.
There are metric chit ton of houses on IOP for sale right now; I'm not so secretly hoping for an economic crash that affects everyone except me so I can move out there again, but this time for good.

meaning 1 manufacturer=2 different names.
I did a search on Consumer reports a few years back when I was looking at building and they said that Trane / American standard were some of the quietest and longest running units available.

Trane was purchased by American Standard.

Then became more profitable than the rest of the company, and was eventually sold to Ingersol-Rand.
Now they're independent again.

IR used to build good products; no idea about now. And AS used to build really good AC units. But really, the only difference between all of them are the coils. Compressors, electronics, capacitors...they are all commodity based. I remember replacing a compressor in my 2nd house and it was cross-referenced to units 3x as big under just about every brand of AC.

you're correct....Trane and AS are one and the same.

An AS unit is a clone of the comparable capacity Trane base model. AS just doesn't go upmarket with the (undesirable, IMHO) multi-speed blowers and dual stage compressors.

R22 freon is well over $100/lb.
I have two tanks of it courtesy of retired HVAC pop. It's my fallback in case the economy crashes.

refrigerant? R22 is for older units. You can google for the prices. It wholesales for around $50, but then gets marked-up by the contractor handling the recharge.
Either way. You better bend over.

it worthwhile to get your hands on a can of the stuff, recharging your unit is pretty easy. Just need the juice and a set of gauges. Save yourself the retail price and the service call fee.

and something is taking its place...like humidity laden air.
Water doesn't compress well, or really, AT ALL, so yeah, eventually your causing a problem that's going to have to be fixed. Not to mention eventually you'll overcharge it if you don't have gauges (and know how to read and use them), and you just freeze up either the coils, the lines, or both..and burn up the compressor post haste.
I don't advise.

To be fair, water does compress. Just at the expense of your standard HVAC unit. Something in the neighborhood of 4% at a thousand atms. It should be fine...

each with their own problems. The compressor went out on the big one. The inside unit died on my mini split. Some other part was replaced on my upstairs unit.

I couldn’t hook up w any Stripers or Hybrids this past weekend. Just couldn’t find them. Did catch some decent catfish off the dock w worms and live herring though.

Typically around now is when they move deeper and only really come up to feed in early morning or late evening. I also normally start catching some really big catfish soon w live herring but running it down about 40 pulls in the main old river channels in the big water part.

Around June 05 through July 10. Water temp around 86 is best, most fish are 30-40ft deep in 70 ft of water. Avg about 5 fish per trip, sometimes 1 or 2, sometimes 15-20.
