Here's a mind-boggling stat: From 2015 to 2020, Clemson had the ACC's best Total QBR against FBS opponents. From 2021 to 2023, the Tigers ranked dead last. Cade Klubnik isn't responsible for all of that, and there are certainly other factors at play (O-line, wide receiver), but if there's one big overarching issue that has kept Clemson from the playoff the past three years, it's the quarterback. Klubnik had his share of strong moments in 2023, but he also made some questionable decisions against Duke and Florida State that likely cost the Tigers wins.
Klubnik and backup Chris Vizzina struggled in the Tigers' spring game, adding more concern from an already nervous fan base. Of course, Klubnik was also a former five-star recruit, and Dabo Swinney has continued to sing his quarterback's praises. Could he take a big leap forward in his second full season as the starter? If he does, it could be Clemson's ticket back into national title contention. -- Hale"
I have faith that Cade will be much improved this season. I believe his OL will also be much improved under the leadership of coach Luke. Our receivers are talented, especially our Freshman. We have all the pieces necessary for Cade to shine and I believe he will, and we will be a contender for the Natty.

Just like most qb's cade, should improve from last year to this year. Considering his performance last year, let's hope that's a large improvement.
I feel confident in saying that 90% of the issues over the last few seasons were on the quarterback. DJ was just awful, and cade hasn't been great either. Cade shows much more promise than DJ ever did thankfully.
Hearing people put the blame on the WR or even O-line is frustrating. The amount of WR's that i have seen wide open and not hit over the last 3 years is maddening. In many cases, the WR is open, the qb is looking at him, but doesnt throw it.

Yeah, so frustrating that Dabo got him another OL coach. OL has been below average to average for several years now. WRs can't block at all and miss more than they should. Not all on Cade.

Our oline has always been average, but yeah, that is the reason cade had one of the worst qbr's in the ACC.

no defense felt they couldn't dominate every position group

Now the RB is the huge issue. This time last year people were clamoring that we had the best RB room in the country. Our RB this year wasnt able to beat out shipley outright on the depth chart. Im a huge mafah fan and think he will have a huge year. Apparently you dont?
If you want to see how a qb can make the entire offense look good, look back to the 2016 national championship game where deshauns only nfl lineman was a freshman taylor hearn, and our best 3 WR's were a soph artavis scott, a freshman renfrow and charon peake.

and Phil Mafah should have been RB1 since 2022.
you can go into my post history and my view of the RB room is well established
Shipley was a fan favorite .
I never liked him .
and i blame everyone that played him over Mafah for the issues
insas literally the first one on here to say this and to hype Phil Mafah all 2023 from the start

Shipley is a good running back who would have been more of a threat if he was used correctly. He shoulda been more of a threat in the pass game and I think you’re gonna see that in the NFL.
He wasn’t the problem and if you think he was you should spend more time watching football than locked up in FB forums.

Shipley's effectiveness was affected by play calling - you could bet that first down would be him off tackle. I got used to 2nd and 9 so much that I called it from the stands before the 1st down snap.

Cade is gonna have to get a whole lot better not just a little bit. We’re talking Austin Bryant Freshman to Senior year better, not DW4 Freshman to Sophomore better.
I just heard EJ Manual on the radio defending him, but he also said Eric MacLaine said Cade doesn’t know how to read a defense. That’s been my observation as well; his problems aren’t physical their mental. He’s gonna have to show that he has the aptitude to be an elite QB; we haven’t seen that yet.

Spring games, as much as fans would like them to be, aren’t going to played like a real game. We won’t know how good our team is until week 1. Heck, maybe even week 2. Wish we could play UGA after we have one game to figure out the basics.
