on Cade. Scary thing is if he doesn't see it by this point, don't believe he's just going to be able to flip a switch.

Totally agree. How do you fix something this fundamental this late?***

You don't. It's worrisome that Vizzina has been his understudy for several years now.

Until the offensive line has consistent pass protection, CK will not trust them and step up in the pocket. There was times he could have stepped up and been fully protected with time to go through his progressions. There were times if he stepped up he would have been decapitated. And can he not roll out/scramble to the left. And yes, i realize that's an across his body throw.

Ok, how much time did Cade need there ? He had all the time in the world to get the ball out to two wide open guys. I’m sorry, it’s the quarterbacks job to get the ball out.

One problem is he doesn't go through progressions....he locks onto 1 receiver or 1 half of the field every time it looks like. No matter the protection.

Agree. Cut him loose and free up a scholarship. Still searching the threads for your disagreement with Cade being a preseason Heisman candidate.
I'll find it.

Draft pick. —- so does he stay another year? Or portal?

I’ll also throw this out there — what has Garrett Riley shown us in 3 years! I’ll give home year 1 because of talent and depth at wide receiver. But other than that? Brother is about to bust all hype - at Southern Cal - plenty of money and talent to tap and not so good on the results.

He'll probably get drafted in the 15th round.

Murray broke down Cade against Georgia last year too. He needs to think less and just let it rip sometimes and he doesn’t. I don’t think Riley is off the hook completely but there were several plays where Cade had guys open if he just throws it on time.

I’ve been saying that since last year. And I told everyone that before the season started. He locks to one receiver or one side of the field. I saw on multiple occasions he had the backside wide open. I get he isn’t Trevor but LSU QB at least scanned the field

Revealing tape.....

That opportunity (play) doesn't get much better. Too slow to get ball out. That ball should've been immediately out. Either he didn't see it or is indecisive. Either answer if very concerning for a QB at his stage. That play at a minimum gets 15 yards...minimum. Could be a TD if safety misses tackle.

BUT the OL is still a hot mess. Not sure why a program like Clemson can't have an elite unit there. NO excuse really. Its been YEARs since we've been able to run on good teams.

I mean LSU blitzed a lot which made the offensive line look worse. That means someone was open over the middle of the field, which Cade misssed.

I watched him in person at the Texas / Clemson game. He was a great quarterback that day. He had no time during the LSU game, due to being blitzed. The coaches did little to help him. The offensive line did little to help him. Number 7 for LSU ate our lunch.

Hey, if he doesn’t hit one of the two open guys to stop the blitze, why would he stop blitzing? He know Cade panicks and instead of throwing it to the wide open receivers, he tries to made the difficult plays. Heck, he’s still going down and throwing it up for grabs.

People coaching is the problem . It starts at the top with Dabo . We had the last place portal class in the weak ACC . Don’t tell me we had a lot of returning players because most of them aren’t talented enough to win at the championship level. Cade has been here 3 years as a starter Ns yes he is a bust. A decent QB but not elite enough to beat playoff teams . The coaching is just nonexistent also . Our coaches Dabo included do not know what to do . The receivers that looke so good last year even look like they regressed against LSU . To totally abandon the run was just suicide and again Dabo stood right there clueless the whole game . This is the same result we are seeing every big game now for the last several years. This is not a 1 game isolated deal it is the norm now . We will struggle with GaTech, Louisville , SMU, FSU , and most certainly USC again . You can deny all you want but the game results against top 25 teams the last 3 years are proof . Dabo went into this game full well knowing we had zero running game and yet chose to ignore it and not get a game ready portal back . Dead last in the weak ACC in portal class despite all the needs this team had ? That is criminal , mismanagement from a man paid 11.5 million to know and do better. Sad state of affairs

Dabo is the problem. Converted WR starting 1st game at RB against very talented defense? Just one of many things you can pick out.

Cade isn’t him. He’s never been. He will put up gaudy numbers against Troy and everyone will be back on the kids jock, but he’s not leading us to a Natty. He’s soft and he’s not able process fast enough. I laugh at where he is being projected in the draft, no way he’s worthy of a first round pick.

I don't think he is soft at all. He needs to play within himself. He needs to run less and look downfield more. Run when it breaksown. We need to use the TE more. He just isn't that great. He is good. He is not elite as in Deshaun Watson, Mike Vick, etc etc. He needs to settle in more direct the defenses better.

Went back and watched the game. Never really was a time watching our defense that I shook my head and said what are we doing here. They played a good game against what I think will be first overall pick in the draft that’s got weapons all over the field and a good OC.

Now offense, man oh man. Garrett Riley has no business being an OC on a team like this. He needs to go back to the big 12 or a G5 school.

Cade killed his draft stock Saturday and his coaching staff did not help him whatsoever. Hate it for him I really do. He won’t be a first round pick and the reason being is this game and a couple others he’s put on film against good defenses. Atleast Clemson gave him a big bag and his family has money.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Garrett Riley is scoring 20 points or less in 30% of his games.

That is the problem. It can't be blamed on the players anymore. No one on offense looked great Saturday. That's an indictment on coaching.

no one here has a clue... coaches and players are the only ones who have a clue. Let them coach. On to Troy and look for improvement, alot of improvement. That was a really good defense and it was first look at what they were doing... better figure how how to plug the gap on the left side of the line....
