Buying tickets at the game

Aug 27, 2016, 9:50 AM

I have never bought tickets from someone standing outside on gameday. But I have read some folks here mention they got decent seats for a good price. Yet I also read one or two who got fake tix.
Could some of you who have done this please share your experiences?

If at Clemson, you will not get fakes and you need to wait until 10 mins before kickoff to get the best deal. If a big game you will only find upper decks most likely. If at ACC championship you need to only buy from Clemson fans as the scalpers will sell fakes. I go with my season tickets but I have a lot of experience in buying them for friends that try to get in at game time. For "small" games like sc state you can get lower decks for less than face value. However, with the Tigers being so good and the demand up, that may not be the case this year.

Have you bought recently from outside the stadium?

The poster below said the bar codes may have been used already.

Be very careful at any SEC venue about fakes . I bought fakes once, and I know other people who have at SEC stadiums (Except for Williams Brice, it's hard to make fakes out of construction paper) Best to look at stub hub or something like that

I won't risk buying tickets outside the stadium any more

I used to do it when I brought had extra people to the game, but ever since the athletic ticket office went to bar code readers and got into bed with the StubHub, even an original ticket may not be valid if its bar code was sold online.

I dunno maybe I'll risk it. I've just never been to a game where I wasn't looking down from the clouds. I can't afford it. I hope to get a deal.

My advice is to get them online. Fakes are common. What they do is sell their tickets on stubhub then they sell the physical ticket outside the stadium.

I would just kind of "size-up" the person selling

them. You can usually tell the scalpers from individuals who are there with an extra ticket or two that they don't need. If I have extras, I won't sell to scalpers. If I have an extra, I'll even go through the gate with the person I sell it to.

Unless I get tickets from my friends or family I always buy them off stubhub. With stubhub you get a money back guarantee plus an additional 10-20% off your next purchase. I had an incident with the WV Orange Bowl that I bought tickets and then about a week later I got an email from them saying the person didn't have them so they gave me my money back along with discount(Which I ended up with better tickets for cheaper anyway.) So after that I swear by stubhub for home games and ticket city for the bowl games. So definitely give stubhub a try, I highly recommend it.

I've used stubhub

It's just I have read many on here telling hire they get lower level seats cheaper than I paid for my nose bleeds by buying on game day outside the stadium

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you buy them at the game do so from someone selling at

Aug 27, 2016, 1:02 PM

their tailgate spot - I have walked around asking for tix and been successful. I would never buy from someone selling outside the stadium with a fistful of tickets to sell.
