So after watching the UGA spring game

I've come to the conclusion that Clemson Def should stack the box with at least 8 players. Hudson Mason is the worst QB under the Mark Richt era.
The guys arm is WEAK. We make Mason beat us, not Gurley.
Tigers win 28-17.

Stoudt is above average QB talent

[ in reply to Re: Uh no. How can you do that with Aaron Murray ] |

Who has seen a hell of a lot more games then your high school QB has. Where did you get the info that Stoudt has never played a 1st string defense? Were you dropped on your head? We may not be returning with Sammy, but we are returning an entire WR corps that is stacked with experienced players who were all top recruits and either played last year or redshirted a year for experience. Add that to our deep OLine and our ridiculous defense (which is so deep it could very well be the best defense in the nation coming into next season). So we have a top WR class, ridiculous depth at RB with multiple highly talented top tier backs (no, probably not as good as Gurley, but I think UGA has discovered its better to have a bunch of good backs who could all have a 1000 yard season than a Gurley who could get 2000 yards but has NO viable backups when he gets injured), a stacked OLine, and a QB that may not be Tajh Boyd good but is definitely better than 75% of the QBs in college football.
So, what does UGA have? A weak OLine that is pretty much untested, average receivers, a high school QB, an average defense, and only one, ONE, stellar runningback. Oh, lets not forget the huge string of injuries the leg humpers suffered from last season. Yeah, some may have made recoveries, but given the severity of some of them I still doubt all of them are back to 100%. Even if they are healthy, the starters from last year were pretty much all replacement personnel anyways. Add that to the fact that the injuries prevented these guys from getting on field experience, and you can easily see how UGA is going to be the most questionable SEC team going in to next season, except for USuC who I believe will fall flat on their face as well.
Face it, Clemson is going to wipe the floor with UGAy.

Your tone implies that you WON last year's game. You know that's not the case... right?
And, to your point, we didn't sell out on the run last year. Murray was just as capable as your ground attack.

Didn't you hear? His team didn't lose anyone and returns the same OL that our guys ran circles around in the first game of the season last year. We lost everybody OMG!
And no way our defense could improve after returning pretty much everyone. Gurley's gonna be healthy! Until our D knicks his soft ### up again.
UGA has this one in the bag!

Ha...it's not enough that Cu won a close game.....you all think you dominated GA. Delusion at it's best. The difference was a INT and a mishandled snap on a fg. Seriously it's difficult to give props to a defense that surrendered 545 total yards.

You think your team all of a sudden improved, but in your mind, there's no way that our defense could have improved.
Stupid at its best.
Don't know who you're trying to convince, but based on the game tape, no one is scared of your team.
If you need to constantly parrot the defense stats from a shootout in the 1st game of the season to make yourself feel better...by all means.

I've never said that and until toe meets leather we won't know for certain. Nevertheless, based on what's on paper GA has a lot fewer questions to answer on offense than Clemson. Defensively Cu should be strong up front with all those seniors but you also have to replace Shuey along w/ another lber and Venables could be starting corners with very limited experience. Ditto for whoever you start opposite of Beasley.
Never mind this one's on our home turf and we'll have the crowd this time around. I like those odds.

"Whoever we start opposite of Beasley" is Shaq Lawson, who was on a lot of All-Freshman lists last year and had 13 TFL as a freshman. He had better production per snap than starter Corey Crawford. And there's also senior Tavaris Barnes, who wrecked Murray last year.
Shuey was a great leader for us, but is replaced by a slightly more athletic clone in Ben Boulware and Tony Steward (who although hasn't lived up to his billing yet, has still seen tons of snaps and has the athleticism).
I agree that we lost a lot on offense, but in case you haven't noticed, this is Morris's system and Tajh Boyd had plenty of flaws. Missing Sammy hurts, but I have a feeling that Cole will take what's given to him and we won't be reliant on one player. I do have concerns about the right tackle position, but that's about it.

Maybe not your MVP but Shuey was the heart of your defense. Replacing him will be difficult in that 1st game. Stewards injuries have pretty much wrecked his career but he is a former 5-star. Morris is going to be mighty thin on that line of scrimmage w/o Beasley and Anthony. Chad will be relying on players with limited experience there as well. Expect Pruitt to pressure that line and Stoudt from the game's 1st snap.
Ga has some very good players up front as well on defense and possibly the SEC's best Lber corps. The secondary is a liability till proven otherwise. They are talented but Grantham's system had them confused much of the time pre-snap.

You don't know jack about this team if you think Shuey was the heart of our defense. Big play maker yes, but not the heart of our defense. That credit goes to our DLine that led the nation in sacks and tackles for a loss pretty much all of last season.
And you're mixing up your Beasleys. David Beasley will not be playing. But thats no big deal because we still have Vic Beasley, who was our sack leader and who had field day slamming Murray into the turf last year.

Oh, THAT was the difference in the game? We're gonna play that game? Well, I could counter and say the only reason Clemson didn't win by 3 scores was because they played a B.S. prevent on Georgia's last scoring drive. Unfortunately for you guys, turnovers, execution, and injuries all count. In regards to the former two components, better football teams tend to limit the turnovers and excel in execution.
For the record, I think Georgia is very good and this game is a toss-up, maybe with Georgia getting the edge since their best player is back on offense and our best two are gone. I think it's fair that they're favored as of today.

I don't have a problem saying Cu was the better team that day. Boyd was better than Murray by far. No sense splitting hairs on woulda, coulda, shoulda. Clemson must replace a ton of production on offense and this time all things favor the Dawgs...home field adavntage, the crowd, the noise....seriously it makes a difference. It rattled our 5th yr senior....how will your 1st time starter react? again...liking the odds.

Yep we lost last year with so many new players. But this year is different! New DC that destroyed Clemson in his first year! While you guys lose a 3,000 yard passer, a 1,000 yard receiver, and a 1,00 yard rusher! Aren't you EXCITED!!!!!! This could be the year where you guys finally get a top 10 Class!!!!!!

I will guarantee you that:
Cole will be close if not over a 3,000 passer Peake or Williams will have over 1,000 yards and we will have a 1,000 rusher in Brooks
This off-season sure is starting to sound a lot like last year... You guys will march over to TNET with your chest poked out and blah Dawgs this and blah SEC that, and then we will whoop your ### again and you will all disappear until next off-season.
