Changes are needed in how teams are selected for the play offs.
The play offs are really going to show the harsh reality that changes will have to be made.
Hope Tigers win tomorrow!

1 team of the 4 got blown out typically. This format will only make that number grow.

9-3 equals participation trophy. I guess you precious Bama got a participation trophy the year we mopped the floor with the greatest team of all time. Blowouts have happened even with good teams.

He's right.. you can't devalue a team with an 11-1 record in a major league for 9-3 teams with really bad losses. Don't be pissed at the CFP or IU bc ole miss lost to UK, Bama lost to OU.
And who is to say either ole miss or Bama fare any better?? I watched Bama get their #### beat by a 6-6 team on the road with zero offense... Pretty sure ND could do worse.

They need to figure out a way to better balance regular season schedules. I’ve been saying Indiana is a joke all season. And Oregon’s schedule next year is basically a bye to the Big10 championship game

Nothing wrong with that. There will ultimately be upsets as it goes on, just like in basketball. Heck, the FCS has had “9-3” national champions in their long history of expanded playoffs, so it goes to show, like basketball, there are “Cinderellla” stories to follow. I mean look no further than our Tigers. We’ve been given a shot, thanks to expanded playoffs.

If we win tomorrow, any argument for changes to the way teams are selected go out the window. The only way to support your call for needed changes would be for Clemson to get blown out by Texas since Clemson is the lowest seed and supposedly the least deserving of a playoff spot. A win tomorrow would solidify the current selection process.

I would argue that a Clemson is one of the 4 most deserving along with Oregon, ASU, and UGA. Win your conference championship game in the power four and you should get in. All the other teams were up for debate.

Georgia is good. Certainly not elite. They have had trouble all year long. On both sides of the ball, too. Now, they have an unproven back up QB.
Notre Dame is good. I think Kirby is a great coach, but I simply do not trust Georgia. Gunner is his first QB start. I would go with Notre Dame right now

Nope Gunner is a gamer. Tough kid. Constant motor. The team around him and the depth is good enough that gunner Stockton will be just fine at quarterback the fact that he can run and throw will be an advantage versus Notre Dame compared to having Carson Beck at QB.
Puppies will beat Notre Dame and win the whole thing with gunner Stockton.

Very rarely were there good games in the 4 team … the first round is supposed to be a somewhat easy win in the format for the home higher seed. It’s not supposed to be easy for those lower seeds on the road.

Dude we’ve all seen an undefeated SEC team, considered the best team of all time going in, get beat by four touchdowns in the CFP final.
That’s college football. Poor performance by conferences like B1G tonight is no excuse to give SEC schools another try after losing during the regular season. Even if they end up seeming to be better, they had their shot. Eventually we need to see cross sectional games since they don’t happen during the season.

The SEC is becoming the dog that caught the car.
No doubt, the SEC is the best conference.
No doubt the SEC has the best teams.
It’s quite possible the SEC had seven teams this year that should be in the top 12.
And it’s trending further in that direction.
But if college football ends up with eight SEC teams in the playoff each year, three or four SEC teams in the final four, two SEC teams in the championship every year, fan interest nationwide will dwindle.
I’m not bothering to watch an all SEC final four. Who cares?
Ain’t nobody outside of the SEC footprint gonna bother watching that.
The result is a horrible business model.

Did you not watch when the national championship was LSU and Alabama back in the day or UGA vs Alabama? It happens. I mean for all we know we could have three SEC teams in the final four.
You’d have Texas vs Tennessee, and UGA vs. say Boise.
It’s more college football. If the tigers are eliminated i’m still watching….

Oh, I definitely watched national championship games in the past two SEC teams.
I’m talking about something different I’m talking about when six or seven of the final eight teams are SEC. I have no interest in watching an SEC final eight year after year. And that’s where we’re headed.

This is what people don’t understand. If it becomes an SEC playoff, viewership will go down. Maybe not initially because this is still a hot new format but eventually folks will get tired of seeing the same teams play year after year, especially if they feel the teams getting in are unworthy due to having more losses than teams getting left out.
Think about our game versus Texas. It’s going to draw eyes from the SEC and the ACC. Bama fans, Ole Miss fans are typically more hardcore in their college football viewing so a lot of them will tune in, ACC fans who feel they have a seat at the table bc their champ got in will watch. If it was UT vs Bama then go ahead and take away a huge chunk of that second bucket, along with folks who wouldn’t be interested in a rematch from the regular season (because if you have more SEC teams in the playoffs you better like rematches bc they will happen often).

You act like ND beat them by 30. 27-17 is respectable at ND for a basketball school.
I believe it was as close to right as it could be.
11-1 in the B1G needs to be in over Bama all day every day.
Reality is the SEC needs to check out and go at it on their own. They want to control all aspects of the sport including the media to keep them propped up. #### they will have 10 teams in the Top 25 to start the year. Better tv when you keep ranked teams playing each other.

When SEC team loses in mid September to another SEC team and drops 1 spot due to the fact that the next week they face another SEC team and they need it to be a Top 25 matchup , it skews every single statistical fact that you make to justify 12 SEC teams in the playoff.
Again, it happened week after week during the regular season. Have to stop with the idea that records do not matter. You can’t constantly whack off to SEC strength and then complain when your 8-4 conference mate doesn’t get in.
Clemson played 2 SEC teams this year and dropped like a rock when they lost , why the difference?
